a little fun with scan guage

well tonight i decided to see what the interceptor scan guage would tell me as far as horse power. so as my wife and i were driving to wendys i decided to open her up in second to redline, according to the guage i have 302 net hp. i know its probably not too accurate but i wonder how far off it actually is anyways just thought id share.

That seems pretty accurate for crank HP. Because that would be like 260 wheel HP which is what Stage 4 is suppose to be.

Actually, just did it on the calculator and 260 would be a tiny bit more than 13% loss.

My gauge read 253 in 2nd gear with my 3 inch pulley, cai, and exhaust. Damn, you're way ahead of me.

4th gear is the closest 1:1, use it for the most accurate results.

did it last night and i got 297 and that was at around 2755 where my shift light is set at. and going 140 mph just to check your horsepower is just plain stupid. if you have the interceptor and want a rough estimate dont do 4th gear just do second it will only read a little higher. plus when you are reading crank hp you dont need a 1:1. all 1:1 is for is if you are getting whp.

You got 297 at 2755rpm that must be like 500 at redline that cant be right

I agree lol. But then he says his shift light is set there, so maybe he meant 6755? However, I do have my shift light set at 4000 rpm......don't ask me why lol Everytime I try to change it, the gauge doesn't work.

do you have the gauge set to 1 on the sensor thing? it comes set on 3 out of the box, and the shift light will only work if it's set on one. mine is set at 6800 and it works great, i usually shift between 6920 and 6970

hell all i have is that 2.7 in pulley and im hitting 19 psi, i think the gmpp exhaust is causing too much back pressure so its a bit higher than it should be.
