Took the valve cover off today because i was bored. The bottom of the VC has some weird type of buildup on it, just wondering why its like that. Everything underneath the valve cover looked peachy mobil 1 ftw!

Eh. Maybe go shorter distances between oil changes, and if you only travel short distances, take a route that allows your car to come to full temp before powering off.

Doesn't look terrible really. Could definitely be dealt with.

More than likely that build-up is caused by condensation breaking down the oil into sludge and vaporizing to the valve cover and drying.

Hmm i change it every 4-5k and the car is always brought up to temp on every drive i take. I live 15 miles from work and its all freeway. So this is sludge? to be honest now that im looking at it up close it has a red hue to it..

As oil gets hot, it evaporates a little. What ur seeing is impurities in the oil and gas that have been evaporated and just stuck. Kind of the same way fast food restaraunts have that ugly yellow hue on the walls and ceilings. Its basically just sludge, but that's not bad at all. If the entire underside were black like that one spot near the 3rd plug hole, then you'd have an issue. Depending on ur mileage, that's pretty dang clean actually
