ive been told there is more room on the exhaust side vs a l61. anyways this is what i was thinking......... anybody interested in sending a head to me (a complete stranger) for some free port work, the catch is u would pay for the machine work, flow bench and shipping back to u. im in no rush right now but i thought i would get the ball rolling to see what i can come up with.

You want us to give you a head, someone with a new post count who is not distinguished at all, who has never ported head, then PAY YOU to do port work, have it flowed to see if you did it right or not, and pay shipping both ways. I will make you a better deal! You pay me 350 dollars for my lsj head, I will ship it to you, you port it, flow it, and see if there are gains. If there is a decent enough gain then you can sell it and a make some money and know that you can port, k thx.

welcome to the form mike not bashing you but if you got something better for a ported head to offer do it to it
lsjions heads are on par with the gmr head which is a good head i have one picked up 20hp just from bolting it on and retuning and as for people forking out cash for what your wanting to do i doubt will happen due to a vendor on here taking money for a project that never happened and they dident get their money back some people dropped alot of cash on that project

 

actually ive been a member since 08, ive just never posted. anyways i can totally understand people not wanting to give some stranger money, i just wanted to see how wild the responses were when i made this thread but to also at least get the ball rolling. the only thing i think i would be able to improve on over my l61 heads are the exhaust side as my race intake ports are at 300cfm already. and i didnt want to just start a thread saying "hey who wants a ported head" u know. ive been doing it for a while and im always trying to get into the platforms that dont have a whole bunch of aftermarket support unlike majority of the import cars. i do neons dsm and jbodies for the most part but i also do random stuff here and there too.

Mike - I was not aware of who you were, you have to see it from the communities side / my side man. A person comes on that seems as they have a low post count, asking for A LOT from us. A head *which is around 3-400 dollars* plus the cost to port it, just so you can learn more. What if you port to much and it flows less? Ya know what I mean. I do have a spare head, and I would be more then happy to send it to you since you do seem like a credible person. How much are you asking for the port work/flow bench. I will need a before and after on the same flow bench also

I wasn't trying to be a jerk either, it was simply my opinion that someone should NOT send that much to a new member / low post count person unless he was established elsewhere. If he would have said "oh hey im mike, I do a lot of porting on other heads, have been doing it for a long time blah blah blah" then that would have been a different story. The way he made it sound is as if he was a new porter =P.

Hope I didn't offend anyone and I am still here to help. If you don't want the head it's all good man no worries.

Freakta - I do have a spare head in the parts section for 350, I wanted 350+shipping, but I could probably do 350 shipped. Includes springs, valves, cam caps, doesn't include cams, only 39k miles on it.

 

thats why it was mostly a joke but with a little seriousness. lol, what i was asking though is if somebody wants to send me an lsj head, ill do my street strip work to it with combo chamber work and all they pay for is the machine work flow bench and shipping. ur looking at about 400.00 total. but i wont ask for that until its ready to be mahcined and flowed. im not here to rip people off, i like what i do sir and want to continue doing it.


so think about it people, remember its a street strip head not a race. so the numbers should be slightly lower then my race head which was 300/210 cfm at .500" and 28" h20

I will go ahead and do it if you are willing to accept my head . Just curious to know how long it will take. I will make the payment once the head has been flowed before / after and there are decent gains etc and after I see lots of pics . Hope this helps you find out the "sweet spot" for these lsj heads man!

That's what shipping is for . If it's spare then you don't need it right away. The way I see it I have this lsj head sitting in my closet all wrapped up, why not have it in good hands getting worked on instead? =P.

As for the other thread, those ports were not finished, Just saying.
I flowed 199 cfm at .500 lift at 28" also, This was on a smaller port than I run now and was unpolished

 

i flowed 550 cjpm out of my mushroom shaped head

 

dont take this in a bad way john or as me being a dick. one of my many hobbies is porting heads, im good at it and i know it. i also like a perfect looking port. i know just because a port doesnt look perfect doesnt mean its not going to work. but when i build something or port or anything that im selling i want both looks and performance and i saw the pics of ur head and what people were saying about them i thought, have these people ever seen a professionally ported head before..... but at the same time ur prices may be on par with the services i dont know. im not the im not the most expensive but im also not the cheapest out there, u get what u pay for u know. i know it sounds like im being a dick but thats not what im meaning to do and im not trying to tell u what to do but practive makes perfect and the more u do the better u get and the more u learn, of course i also dont know how long uve been doing this, hell u may have been doing this longer then me for all i know. anyways thats enough of that. the reason i want to do another head is because i already have race numbers and i want street/strip numbers now. yes whoever sends me a head will get before and after number and pics of erevything done before any payment is made. this is the only situattion in which it will work this way. once a product is established at least half the total payment is do up front or when i recieve the head and the other half when its done and ready to ship. if anybody has any questions hit me up. im over on jbody and im a vendor on neons.org for anybody want so see more of my stuff.

I totally get what you're saying, I just hope you saw that, it was teaser pics and nothing was complete, and much time remained on that head.
I know it's going to sound like I'm talking it up, but most of my customers who see pictures, are always impressed how much better they look in person.
