Honestly? Nothing. Learn some things first. You ARE going to run into problems when you start upgrading, and Modifying, And messing with the car. It's not as easy as going out and buying a part and Slapping on to something under the hood. There is a science to all this stuff. Be patient, Grasshopper, And you will learn, In a very short time.

^^^^diddo, First and formost welcome to the tuner/custom car world and css.net. its good to see you have the itch to stand out from the rest! and what a better car to start with than the cobalt!
BUT before you start modding your car get a generall idea of what kind of car you want to have and where you want to start. i mean do you want to have a straight up race car w/a roll cage, gutted interior, a re-enforced frame, major supercharger work, head work cam work, and things like that?, or a car that is "all show, no go" (like mine) or are you looking to have a decently fast daily driver? also when it comes to appearance, be sure not to just slap any old sticker, or graphic on your car expecting it all to look good. I highly reccomend getting to know your car, leave it stock for a little bitty so you can better learn how it performs, and perhaps find a few "quirks" your car may have. this will help you in the long run. hope i was of help to you! WELCOME

I second what these other guys have told you. Welcome to the world of custom cars! Do some research on what parts are for, decide what you want out of your ride, and do some reading here to find out about potential problems/benefits arrising from the application you have chosen.

Good places to buy things- check out the supporting vendors section- alot of them will have descriptions of the parts (just don't believe anything you read on a site that is selling a part about how much horsepower it will give you).
\
edited to add------

First lesson grasshopper- When increasing engine performance don't neglect the rest of the vehicle. faster car = greater stopping distance-----upgrade brakes. more horsepower/torque = more wear on clutch-----upgrade clutch. Things of that nature.

2 easiest things to do and easily reverseble are the intake and cat back , and will give you the least amount of issuse with the dealer and warrenty work

i would say that the #1 most important thing you should buy is a torque forward torque brace. it will elminiate your wheel hop and it will help stiffen your shifting.

Good advice. Wheel Hop = broken motor mounts and driveline components

most diffently that is the very first product that i bought and if you are on a tight budget then get the 24.99 intake mod and the Tq Forward TQ Brace and you will be set for under 250 ....... single brace with brackets is 100 and the dual brace and bracket set is 175

heres a link. http://as.ext-n.com/ads/adclick.php?...opments.com%2F
its the best product that i can tell yeah to get perormance wise that doesnt add hp/tq but does help put more to the ground and limits the engine movent to only +/- 5mm instead of inches without the braces.
