Get a good 2.5" exhaust system with an e-cutout. This way you can have solid performance with your setup and then be really loud when you want to. I think this guy put it at the 90 degree bend under the car. Watch the cobalt video on this page:

Don't know if anyone addressed this but...

You don't need nor do you want backpressure. Backpressure is a negative thing. It's the change in exhaust velocity that makes you lose power.

I can't believe there are 4 pages on what exhaust system to buy...

lol... i once had a buddy tell me that its always best for performace to put the biggest exhaust possible (he used 5-6 inch as an example and make me lmao), because the faster you get it out, the faster you can get it in... i dont think that our set-up w/ the m-62 is the best for a huge exhaust, but thats because you aren't flowing as well as we could be because of our head and small blower.

LOL

That's the thing, people confuse volume with speed. Increasing the diameter is increasing the volume of exhaust that COULD leave at once but it doesn't mean that the speed of the exhaust leaving will be the same. It's like blowing air through a straw the diameter of my finger and then trying to blow into a straw the diameter of my hand in a fist.

ARK N2 by far. Giant canister typically is designed to be LOUD. I have the N2 + CA header and a CA de-cat downpipe.........LOUD as hell.

I love my rasp! Sounds aggressive as hell. I hate the passive exhausts........shoot, if your gonna open it up........then OPEN IT UP!

Buut, to each their own.

Well, loud is loud at WOT, but in just coasting and accelerating slowly i hate having it ungodly loud. having straight through resonators and mufflers (glasspack sounds sweet, cherry bomb is my choice) are a good idea to have it sound powerful but refined at low rpm, and amazingly strong at full open throttle. straight pipes without resonators are raspy and still don't put up much more gains. 3 inch also gets you a little lower frequency.

I need to get some good sound clips of mine with a CTI custom cherry bomb catback with modified stock downpipe and CA header, but i can tell you i've had many people comment on how sweet it sounds full throttle or none.

get the megan racing exhaust, its cheap as hell ($330.00) and sounds, looks, and performs amazing. its deep without being raspy. i get a ton of compliments. and with the money you save for going with ark n2 or some other you can do another mod!!! you can look for my videos of mine on myspace just search for chevy cobalt ss megan racing exhaust.
