umm... not to sound like a smart ass but your coolant is low.

When your car runs for a bit it heats up and the coolant basically expands (fills more of your system) and it is enough to keep your sensor from bugging you. Once it sits the coolant cools and goes below the sensor's liking.

is it at the full line after the car is completely cool (i.e. waking up in the morning and checking before you start the car) or after you let it run for a couple minutes + ?

Way to much thought on this one. Add coolant to the bottle and I'll bet the light no longer comes on.

it won't tell you if your intercooler coolant is low. atleast not in the redlines.
you can add coolant to the h/e neck, but it' a seperate system they don't intertwine.

sit in the driver seat like you would when you are driving. Now kick out with your left foot. Your kick panel is now revealed and has earned its name properly.
