LOW dyno numbers with the stage kit...

Hey guys, I have been dynoing my car this month and I can't seem to get past 225hp and 209ft/lbs or torque with the stage 1, 2.9 pulley, and K&N CAI. Now I am getting a p0420 error once and a while which is "catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank1)". Do you guys think that is the reason for the low numbers? I dynod with the 3.15 and the max was the same with the 2.9. But, I did gain 15hp throughout the power band. I am just really frusturated that the car is putting out less hp with these mods than some stock cars.

Now I know that all dynos are different but that number seems a bit low. All of my pulls were in third. Any suggestions?????

the stage kit is not gonna increase power. The kit was overrated. all the kit is good for is to get rid of the CEL lights and give you a base to add some bolt on's.

same goes for the STG1 on the SRT-4's. it does nothing, It does the same thing it does for us.

Well even with the 2.9, K&N, and a 3 inch exhaust I just thought I would have more than a 225hp max.

with a 3" pulley alone i dynoed at 230WHP on a dynojet, so your #'s arent that off.

perhaps you had bad heatsoak, but still....idk man

Sounds like a clogged cat. Remove it, and watch how much power you gain.

Well then I just may be ok. I was just seeing people with their 240's hp with the same mods and I had higher expectations.

Well the exhaust is in R&D for a company. I did a baseline with the exhaust off and with it on and I didn't gain a thing. Your right, the 3 inch is pointless for lightly modified cars but if you have a highly modified cobalt like maybe a intense stage 5 or you just want a good sounding exhaust then it can be useful. I mean ****....you wouldn't take a free exhaust.

yeah if its free i'd take it....then sell it!!!

Im still on the stocker, and it seems the tone is more aggresive with a few bolt-on's, so im keeping it!

2 1/4 VS 2 1/2...I dont see spending nearly $500 for a new exhaust.

i'm with you guys on this one...catback exhaust upgrade seems a bit pointless, although an exhaust manifold upgrade seems like a much better use for the money.

But my setup is going to run more lean/less rich than the stage 2 right? My pulley is smaller.

Stage one adn 2 tunes are not the same.
But it sounds like you have a bad catt. I would have it replaced and see if that helps.

Also a catt back will help HP if the car is moded. And after the replace the manafold it will help alot more then befor. But a 3" is pointless unless your going for some big power #s.

did u do a dyno before the mods? with the same dyno? if not then u cant really be angry. cuz as far as u know stock on that dyno u might have been putting 180whp or something

silverss what are you talking about the stage kits dont do anything?

i had an increase of 31.4 hp and 15.0 ft/bs of trq and have the before and after dyno charts. this was with a very hot car too.


also do you have a baseline before you did the stage kits?

or....

shitty dude i dynoed 223 hp and 194 tq with just a cai and thats just on 91 octane...theres gotta be something wrong man.
