Lsj to l61 issues

I bought a 2006 SS project. The LSJ was not in it for some reason. A 2007-08 L61 was put in by previous owner. The car will start and run (not easily), but lacks serious power and only revs to 1100-1500 RPM. I know this has been done before, but this is my first cobalt and in need of some guidance....

the crank trigger wheel is clocked different between an lsj and an l61, and im not sure if the 07/08 l61 cam trigger wheel is the same or not.

as far as i see it, you have 2 options, and one im not even sure works. you can either find an lsj or a saab b207 for it (essentially the same long blocks), or get a 2007 2.2l wiring harness and computer, and there is no guarantee that will work correctly.

Doesn't the head on the 07/08 also have VVT?

Not for l61. only le5.

His only realistic option at this point are to get a lsj setup. Swapping to a full l61 is going to cost more not only in all the wiring and ecm but also a lot of programming and tuning since he has a ss programmed bcm and a ss transmission.

edit: when you say swapped to l61, is the supercharger stuff from the lsj still there or is it a full l61 setup?

Yeah your timing is probably like 20-30 degrees off. I cant remember how much, but the lsj and l61 crank trigger wheels are clocked differently.
