LSJ PCV system

I am putting my LSJ in an offroad truck and today noticed the PCV port that goes directly in to the intake. For me this is a bad thing since it will pump oil into the intake at extreme angles or if it rolls over.

Has anyone modified this pcv hole(plugged it) And were there any ill effects? I know how the PCV system works and its plugged under boost anyway and I cant see any reason not to plug it and run the valve cover vent to a catch can.

Lets hear some opinions..

Check out the Powell Race parts PCV upgrade. Any oil collected or carried over drains back into the dipstick tube

If the truck rolls over then the oil will pour out of the rocker cover cap vent you are proposing pretty darn good, a direct pathway; blow by gases dont pump into the inlet manifold under boost, and you understand that, so whats with the "extreme angles or roll over stuff" ?

Like said here, google dat stuff.

blocking the port really negatively affects vacuum and blow by gas control.
etc.

Hes saying gravity under vac will direct oil to the rear of the rocker cover and be carried thru the CAI

^^^? the gas vent blow by pathway to the middle of the IM travels up from the middle of the block to the middle of the head via a port to the rocker cover mezanine, across two oil seperator biscuits, and then down an orificed tube back into a rocker cover vent port to the head and then out through a check valve to the IM.

this is not going to be an issue for the OP. thats my opinion.

Run a free flowing filter on the valve cover port and block the rest. It's never been a problem on mine. It only dripped a little bit when it was rolled over for a while. Read this in case you roll because mine hydro locked and poured smoke like freight train from so much oil in the SC and intake. The PVC delete is not the only source of oil. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...llover-300070/

I saw your thread Vaughn. Very interesting read. My only concern is just if it's been tested or would be compatible with a 500+ build. I'm assuming the turbo would have nothing to do with it because they've made one for the LNF before. I've just seen some of the crazy modifications people have done in the crankcase thread as well. John, perhaps I should PM you about this so as not to derail this thread?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81x8WUq9fH0 thats whats with the extreme angles or roll over stuff. Happens often and is more fun to try to drive out of it than get out and winch.
Like said here, google dat stuff. ?? Whats dat??

But does it negatively affect the way the motor runs?

So if the motor is upside down or on its side oil CAN NOT make it out the pcv into the intake?

Thanks for the real world experience here. I know it will go past the rings and open valves, I'm just trying to slow it down and keep it off the rocks/trail.

well OP apart from the name calling , you asked for OPINIONS.

FACT is, the LSJ wont run well with the PCV blocked but you can tune around it.
FACT is, when the engine is upside down the oil pours out of the pan down the 2 x 8 inch timing chain area, and then finds the quickest way out from there, which is your aftermarket rocker cover cap filter.

FACT is, the port for the PCV inlet is very small has several turns to make, and then the orifice in the check valve is 3 -4 mm....

so the oil will probably be gone by the time a few cc finds its way to the PCV.

meh.

OPINION? Leave the PCV port alone, spend your time on driver mod to keep the machine on its wheels.
