M62 cooling

I just picked up a new car with the m62 supercharger kit. It needs cooling bad!

Im wanting to do the best I can for my cooling so right now my idea is:

ZZP option B
pump
ZZP dual pass endplate

But not sure about what H/E to run.

I know the griffin is the best but it is out of my price range so im looking for the next best.

Im stuck between the ZZP S3 and the larger CX racing H/E's

Does anyone have any input??

I don't have zzp's stuff but what you got listed is pretty much everything you'd need for cooling. Some people will say meth but that a performnace added as well.

Try looking at OTTP's H/E, I have it and it works great!

I will be getting meth in the future for sure once I pulley down. I first need to learn to tune so I can tune for it.

Im still on the stock pulley on the gm reflash..Its a cav BTW. But im able to run the 3.1 pulley with good cooling mods on the stock reflash

I'm running a 2.9 pulley on the gm stage 2 tune and I have dual pass, option b and the heat exchanger. I think with the mods you listed you will be fine

I have both and what I found was the CXracing unit cooled slightly better. It is however a PITA to install properly and you need to remove the stock HE if you don't want it dragging on the ground where as the ZZP is a piece of cake to install and made to fit. I'd say go for the ZZP. OTTP's stage 1 unit isn't even a proper air/water cooler and it weighs more.

Also look into the ZZP Phenolic spacer, your temps will be way better. With opt. b, dual pass, h/e and the spacer my temps are about 10-12 degrees different. After pulls the temps recover super quick too.

I'd be careful with the ZZP s3 on a cav, it took some cutting just to fit onto my cobalt haha, or who knows, maybe on a cav it will fit perfectly

porting supercharger as well will help lower temps. as well as other things youve listed.

I have that also. It only really works well if you remove all HE's and run the KC by itself, then it work phenomenally otherwise the HE's work against it. The downside to this is you need to run it all the time.

there's a thread on this forum some where created by AIS to help you both on your misinformation about meth. Technically, it's not a performance mod. The introduction of alcohol into the combustion chamber actually serves as a cooling agent. You don't need a tune to run it, but if you want the performance gains then it's best to tune for it.

I work with methanol on a daily basis. I know it's affects on water, ice and it's combustibility properties. I'm pretty sure that they won't tell me something I don't already know.

Plus if you want it just for a cooling mod use the 50/50 mix. if you use 100% meth for just cooling you are throwing money away.

Even at 50/50 with water there is still more than a little bit of performance in it

That is false. Our stage 1 unit is a proper air to water core. The correct info is that zzp stage 1 and stage 2 heat exchangers are the heavy air to air cores you speak of. Our stage 1 is also slightly bigger than the zzp stage 3 while being alot cheaper on the wallet.

So this is what a proper air/water core looks like? Sure looks a lot like a air/air to me. I do like the dangly hanging off the bottom ready to get smashed off on the first speed bump you encounter though.

I guess every vehicle radiator made is improper then.

Thats an air to air core and isn't the current core we run and we haven't ran it in over 2 years....The picture is just outdated. Can you believe that or do I need to take you to school?

Ya this is the froze boost 2" thick model with an air to air core. Air to Water Radiator

This is the zzp stage 1 which is the exact same as above with brackets welded on. Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance

Both of them use an air to air core and are more expensive than our kit that use's an air to water core.

I brought it in while discussing air to air cores and which company sells them. So did you technically because the frozen boost core is the same core as zzp. If we are comapring us made products instead of the cheaper chinese ones we can then talk about the griffin heat exchanger that is only available from us, it is the top dog of heat exchangers.

See the difference is, zzp says this is a cheap pos from china, doesn't pass it off as this is a great piece check out this nice drain thing that's going to come open and break off whenever you hit a bump lol.
