M62 Hybrid???
M62 Hybrid???
Has anyone else noticed that on the Time attack cobalt it says it has a M62 hybrid. Has anyone heard anything about it? Perhaps this is how chevy will continue with the stages.
# Stage 2+ Ecotec engine developed by GM Performance Division and GM Powertrain
# 264 hp @ 7000 rpm (344 horsepower @ 6800 rpm with nitrous boost)
# 230 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm (350 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3600 rpm with nitrous boost)
# Eaton M-62 Gen 5 Hybrid supercharger
This shows another 20HP on what they said stage 2 is going to be and another 12 Ft.-lbs.

Yeah I'm guessing the '+' after the 'Stage 2' gives it 20 more HP. I can hear it now:
"Can I get the Stage 2+ upgrade instead of the Stage 2?" -Me
"That'll be another $1,200, and it will void your warranty..." - Dealership
oh well

i believe the stage 2 theyre reffereing to is the engine upgrade not pully upgrade, if u read the gm sportcompact build book the staged 2 prepares the car for 300-400hp, which i think the output would produce 260hp+ thats my guess.

I agree it's definetly something different that the stock M62. I did a couple google searchs and got nothing.

Hybrid , probabaly only means its a M62 blower modified for the Cobalt application . Im sure the stock blower on our cars is not the exact same as you would purchase off eatons site .
I called eaton, the person I spoke to said he has not heard of an m62 hybrid in production via eaton...but he said it is probably either the internals of a bigger (m90 probably) supercharger....he also said there is the possibility it could have been converted to something similar to a lysholm (twin-screw) type design within a modified m62 casing w/ an air to water type intercooler.
He sure had a lot of explanation...I think maybe he DID know what it was, but was not exactly @ liberty to discuss it.
