Maybe a stupid question

I saw a picture from a thread with his head ripped off. now the guy had his motor modded and i didn't read anything but..........our motors are sleeved???????

Why did they do this.........not enough room? are the 2.2 and the 2.4 sleeved as well?

Correct me if i'm wrong!!!

You can sleeve for different reasons.

say you want huge power but the stock sleeves are only good to 3 or 4 hundred. they make sleeves out of different material that can handle upwards of 1000hp.

Nope your not wrong and its not a stupid question. The reason they have sleeves is because its an aluminum block and aluminum can not withstand the amount of torture that the piston going up and down would cause because its a soft metal, well softer then steel is anyway! So what they do is press a steel sleeve into the bore so the engine will last.

I know no aluminum engine that is not sleeved. I've also never heard of a sleeve not being able to be replaced.

All sleeves can be replaced, I mean they get pressed in so they can be pressed out too.

I threw the "in cars" in my last post so noone would find some off the wall engine that was aluminum and had no sleeve. I've found it very important to watch how to word things online or someone will post back just to be able to proove you wrong.
