Everywhere I read about manual boost controllers say that they have smaller pulleys as well. Does it matter if I get a mbc but still have a stock pulley or is that a problem?

 

its a supercharger. its not going to make any more boost with a boost controller. its all controlled by the SC pulley

Well why would they make a manual boost controller for the supercharged cobalt if it doesn't do anything b/c it's all controlled by the pulleys?

 

who makes an MBC for us? there are generic MBC's but they were never intended for use on our set-up. a supercharger is purely RPM-related boost. there is no questioning that. some have rigged a manual boost controller to turn down boost but that is about it, there is no possible way to raise boost

 

I don't know, I read about it on a few websites but it wasn't really clear, esp. now.

it was only meant to limit maximum boost. and that was before there was a lot of hptuners support. now we can control maximum boost through hptuners even though there is no real need for it

This boost controller is nice for dialing the boost down when you can't get good gas, intercooler pump is not working, someone borrows your car/valet parking, etc...

 

With the SC cobalt you can only raise boost by dropping pulley size. You can use programs like hptuners to lower boost if need be. /thread
