Methanol Injection Help

well this will be my first time messing with methanol injection, well any kind of injection for that matter. Anything i should know? I'm assuming it will only be needed to be injected at high boost levels. My cobalt is not my daily and it doesn't see the track on a weekly basis. Its just my joy vehicle on nice days and whenever i feel like it. Below are my current and future mods.

Current:
-Heat Exchanger
-M62 with 2.85"
-42* Injectors
-HPT

Next month:
-Dual pass plate
-Meth injection
-TVS Harrop SC with 2.8"
-80* Injectors
-Custom exhaust

Basically im just trying to get an understanding and receive knowledge on running methanol. How big of a tank? When to start injection? Anything would be great!

i suggest a trunk methanol kit. how much boost does a tvs put out with a 2.8 pulley so i can roughly estimate when you should start pumping in meth?

id say start it off at 15 psi so your not hitting methanol when your daily driving or bogging it down by coming on too early. if anyone else wants to jump in and add information feel free.

ok great, well there's a start lol. thanks man.. well since its not being used very often, i dont believe i'll need a large tank. im hoping for something to fit under the hood. Even wen i do drive it, i barely even get into boost. I've been looking and realized that there are certain types of nozzles and pumps, what would be suggested for my setup?

Any help would be great! lol

here is a fender mount kit from the company i use. they will select the correct nozzle for you just let them know what kind of car you have before you purchase the kit and they will help you out. http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.c...c22/index.html

it should be just check it every time you go out
or if you think you can fit a 4qt tank where you want to do it

ok, well i have a water level gauge so it wont be a problem knowing my fluid level. i mean how much meth is used under a load? say like a quick pull all the way thru 3rd, in lets say a 1qt tank (so its easy to measure, 1/4, 1/2..etc) how much of the meth would be injected? of course it would depend wen the fluid gets injected, but wats a good estimate?

depends on nozzle size and when its injected but methanol doesnt go as quick as lets say nitrous

yeah, so it will difficult to compare between us. But im just trying to get the basic understanding and essential parts needed to make this work. So far the help has been great!

Now what u mean by is comes on at full? and also as the other member stated, meth doesnt run low quick correct? i mean unless you run it hard for a long period of time. With that nozzle you suggested, with me running a larger displacement blower you think it will be fine for me?

the kit i showed you uses a progressive controller you set it when you want it to come on and when you want it to be fully spaying
and you dont use much meth it is only spaying 7gph for at most like 15 sec at a time

you can run a boost line to the controller or tap into map sensor for the boost signal that is how i have it now but i am going to change it to use the boost line soon once i got a mechanic boost gauge

thanks for the link! and as for tuning, i will be tuning myself. but like i said i've never messed with meth injection, so i guess i'll just be careful and patient wen messing with the timing wen meth is applied.

Take it easy on the timing untill you get everything dialed in and then start adding some. If you cant get at least 22* at peak I would go with a stronger mix. I would be happy with 23 with out e85. Because meth gets pumped in after wot really take caution with the lower timing cells. I have never tuned meth and this is heresay, but that is what I would go by if I had to get meth instead of e85.
