Methanol question

I know im going to get called stupid for asking but can i run my meth kit without a tune. i have to wait for all my mods to get here before i can tune and would like to just cool my supercharger for now, hoping that i can do it without a tune for about a week or 2

You can, you will lose some power though untill you get the tune.

Why would you lose power? If you don't tune for the meth you just won't be adding any timing and you will use it for cooling benefits..

you wouldnt lose power at all. u just wont really see any gains.. its pointless to put on and use without a tune.. but nothing bad will come from it

Not pointless. A lot of people don't tune for it as they just use it as a cooling mod instead of adding an ass ton of timing.

You can run meth without a tune. You will lose performance though because your car is going to be running richer.

because you will run richer, running rich loses power, especially if he is on the stock or s2 tune. Your best bet would be to run a small nozzle with distilled water for cooling only. You won't benefit from adding any meth.

man i got beat twice on that reply

im on a custom tune. i believe my tuner dumbed down my timing which is making me run richer. he dumbed it down because im running a 2.7 pulley on the stock h/e with no cooling mods

meth = increased octane...not so much cooling....water= cooling..the water mist evaporates in the combustion chamber taking heat out with it...i dont believe it would cause u to run richer if u run a small bit of meth since ur just upping the octane.. the little bit of difference that the meth would cause to the afr would be easily adjusted through the o2 sensor it would read the richer output and adjust as needed to get as close to the command afr. now if ur running ass loads of meth then it would cause rich conditions and prob throw a mil. a cheap way to increase ur octane is to add water remover to ur gas its like 2 bucks and its main ingredient is methanol.

You are still adding a fuel that the computer cannt control and really doesnt know is there, so it will run more rich. Thats why the tune will help a good amount.

Yah may run lean if you do this.

I have a devils own, i like it. I went cheap and got the universal kit, but still works great.
