More Horsepower?
Ok, I was woundering if anyone has purchased any speed chips and actualy seen improvment. I seen a few on ebay. But i know some work but not all because i use to have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24 and i bought one of those chips off ebay and all i had was a cold ait intake and exhaust before and it was kinda fast but once i put that little chip thing in my o2 sensor i seen a huge difference. I was just curious to see if anyone has tried this or even heard anything about them working. and all it was was like a little circle circuit board on 2 prongs and i believe it tricks the engine to think its colder than it is so it runs higher in performance. Thanks for any input.
well i did a search and couldnt find anything really. but i was seeing if anyone has used one and seen improvment. my one friend spent over $100 on one and it didnt do **** and the one i spent $0.50 on did more.
you have to hard tune the ecm right now. no chip or anything will help.
those things dont work man. they might for a little while, but they are just going to hurt your engine in the long run. im pretty sure they trick into thinking that its running rich, so it leans everything out. someone correct me if im wrong.
I had one of those in my 99 Z24, and you know what it got me? Absolutely nothing.
At best, and this is being generous, at best it allowed me to hit WOT sooner on the pedal.
Thats it.
Think about it, if these worked at all, then they would be sold by big name manufacturers, not by dumfuk269 or who ever on ebay.
Save your money and put it into real mods with real gains.

They are called resisters. Its something you could pick up at radio shack...lol But they're a bad idea because they trick you pcm into thinking it has more cold air coming in than it really does so in turn your engine starts dumping more fuel to try to complete the mix and that's how they work. If used long term those things are bad on your engine. Everyone is right don't shop for parts on Ebay
While these do not work because the scenario it is fooling the ECU into isn't really happening, if you actually tune your ECU into the proper fuel curve it will of course. The resistor trick does work on speed density, naturally aspirated cars because it will cause the AFR to drop more quickly during WOT runs which is what you want as a baseline. If you look at a performance tune the AFR drops much more quickly to somewhere around 12.5:1 (depends on setup how they fine tune from there) because that is the AFR at which gasoline creates the highest amount of BTUs and it is assumed that it is a good starting point. In essence this is what old schoolers did when EFI came out and they couldn't tune it.
Dont do it bro. It aint worth. I was a sucker myself bout 1 year back when I got my 06 SS/SC and Ill tell u the truth. It does increase your throttle response & you can feel a tiny bit of hp increase BUT THE CATCH IS after 5k rpms your car will jump & struggle to get power because it is dumping so much fuel in2 your engine. The higher your rpms go the more your car will jump. I personally think from my experience with that it takes away your high end power & converts it to lower rpm power. And yes it will also turn on your Check Engine Light on. 1 last thing: If you have any kind of high-flow fuel injecors (even the 42# lucas's) it will majorly increase the jumping @ high rpm's. So take it from me an X-sucker (lol) if you like your high rpm's I would save your money & buy some real mods & get yourself some mods that will be good all the way to your if a TRU racer like me.
