Mufflerless exhaust???

ive heard the clip with straight pipes, i personally think it doesnt sound all that great. anyways i was thinking of having an exhaust custom fabbed probably 2.5 or 3", but i was thinking also about going mufflerless with a resonator or two. thoughts or info??? what do you think it would sound like??? my buddy had a dodge srt4 with one resonator and it sounds mean, i know thats a srt and im dealing with a cobalt but its just an idea.

Muffler or resonator, I'd say if you want the same gains as straight pipes, get glasspack straight through piping with holes. The mufflers that will silence a lot but cause a loss in power are the chambered mufflers or resonators which cause the exhaust flow to go through the sound deadening chambers.

If you get at least 2 straight through mufflers or resonators, they should do just fine and allow for better flow. I have a 3" straight piped magnaflow muffler which CTI uses and 3" glasspack cherry bomb and it keeps away the raspiness.
