Mufflers...

Well i installed a 40 series about 3 weeks ago i kinda like the sound but its again kinda raspy once i hit boost... so i was wondering if there are any differnt mufflers that will be as loud just not as raspy.

Have you driven the car alot, also it doesn't get raspy when you hit boost, but when you hit about 3300 rpm. Once you drive the car alot, it builds up a layer of black carbon deposit. This builds over time and absorbs some of the raspyness. Also if you give the car a good WOT blast up to redline all raspyness should be gone. This is the way it is on my car at least. Also I don't think you gonna find anything else that even gets close to the noise level of the flowmaster, unless you go with no muffler and thats mare raspy than the flowmaster.

You could try a super40 or go with 50 series 3 chamber flowmaster

yeah but going with a 3 chamber muffler would defeat the purpose of getting a FLOWmaster. Magnaflow would out flow a 3 chamber.

I got a Volt muffler. just like Magnaflow. sounds alright. but no matter what our cars are going to sound like ass anyways. until your supercharger screams. I love how my SC is louder than my rice ass exhaust... haha! goodnight fellas.

I was going to ask if there was any exhaust out there or in development that didn't/wouldn't sound like ass, but I guess I'm SOL.

Could try a greddy universal muffler... a girl I know has one on her DSM and it sounds downright nice.

I checked for greddy and couldn't find any mufflers just full exhaust. Does anyone know of any mufflers that will sound the same from start up to warm up? I like the 40 once it's warmed up I just need a neutral tone from start to finish. I think finding a nice exhaust for these cars is a pain in the ass.
how do you think a glass pack would sound?

I dont realy like the way that our cars sound with any exhaust that I have heard so far. They def. need a deeper tone. That is not raspy.

Dude I don't know what the hell your smokin, but tell me why 99% of guys (I know) who have high horsepower (400-1400) muscle cars all use flowmaster mufflers? If they don't flow then tell me why my dads friend mike who has a 1400 hp supercharged '69 camaro uses a 40 series?!?!
