Mufflers...

BUT, they do sound nice. Especially on mustangs. Nothing sounds quite like a 5.0L with a set of 40 series flows!

when i went to UTI they had a flow bench in the hot rod class and we flowed like 5 different mufflers with a one three inch inlet and one three inch outlet and flowmaster(super 40) was the worst flowing out of all of them. the other 4 were magnaflow dyno max super turbo a glass pac and a stock muffler off a 94 mustang.
Ive got the Corsa sport...2.5 all the way back, but i took out the resonator so its a lil louder...its deeper than the GMPP, & the magnaflow. only rasp i have is when the car starts....i drive it for about 200 feet before its gone...all i do is let the car heat up for like 5 min...then just run it up the road shifting at about 3500 to 4000 RPM through 1st and 2nd then after that its gone...even though the corsa is a bit pricey...its well worth it....heres the website for the distributor... www.corsaperformance.com click that then go to auto...listen to a couple of sound clips then decide what works for you...

The baffles control sound.... straight through mufflers have nothing to 'constrict' flow. Better packing in the muffler itself controls sound (on a straight through design). Having enough back pressure is BS. Hooker and Magnaflow are both straight through and also very quiet at low RPMs. Personally, I run hooker on my truck, and magnaflow on my T/A.

And the 40 series doesn't have "a bunch" of baffles, it accually only has 1 shaped like /\ with the exhaust flowing past the upside down V, how is that restrictive? Its just there to take some volume out of the sound.
I've had the Altered Atmosphere 3" Cat back on my car since October and I love! Very deep not one bit of raspyness, BUT its just TOO loud so today I swapped the Vibrant straight through muffler with a Dynomax Super Turbo. Its now just a little louder then factory with a really nice deep tone. At full throttle the supercharger is louder then the exhaust. Since its a 3" exhaust I did not notice one bit of high end power lose.
