My Coolant Cap Blew off

Where it went, nobody knows. My question is what the hell would make a coolant cap blow off. My guess is that it worked it's way undone and just came out. I heard a thud under the hood and then noticed my car hitting coolant temps of 217*, looked under the hood, no coolant cap, wtf. Warranty?

i don't think you could get that on warranty, might have just left it loose maybe? They might try and get you for leaving it loose even if you say you didn't. Kinda like how the dealers say you abused it when you crack the transmission.

I left mine loose (loosened it when taking off the steam tube in order to take off the fuel rail), and went driving, it didn't come off, but coolant started overflowing like a **** and my temps started hitting 217* as well.

New overflow cap should only be 10-15 bucks max, so even if they don't warranty it, you won't be hit hard.

Same thing happened to me. Went to the local autoparts store got a universal one. IIRC it was around $5-10 bucks
