My SS S/C is HERE!
So, I Picked it up tongith around 7, its 12 now drove it for about 4 hours. I am probably the SHITTIEST standard driver out there, i had some lights go around twice.. But near the end I could usualy stop and go without stalling anyways im soo glad it is here, it is my first car and I could not be happier, unless of course it was a enzo then again some young kid stalling in an enzo would puzzle tons of people. I just want tips/suggestions pointers intresting facts about it what to look out for, what to do.. Like when can I floor it,( havnt really yet) etc.. things like that!!! thanks guys!

Truth be told these cars have a f-ed up clutch pedal. This is not my first manual car and it took me like a good 8000 miles to really be able to leave lights at hills with it and not stall it. Even now sometimes i use the e brake if a car is real close behind me. I never had that problem with my neon...then again they have a linear pedal and much better feel.

my cobalt is also my first manual. i got the hang of it after about 2,000 miles. although there are a few occasions i have almost stalled out the freaked out and started to almost cry. LOL but trust me when i tell u u will get used to it. the clutch on this car is not that easy to learn on. its very stiff and a lot different then the car i learned on. ur gonna have a muscular left leg. LOL
anyway hang in there. it only gets better. and even people who have been driving stick forever stall occasionally.

drive up hill get into third then stop .... repeat that pattern until you can get the car to go without stalling or severe roll ... also if your putting to much gas STOP IT ... get the car to neutral and start again when the egine revs down ... you can get the hang of it quick ... and be careful coming off small dips

Never tried starting on a hill yet, i will.. when theres not as much ice//snow, I took 1 course on stikc for 1 hr in the summer, went GREAT.. i noticed its about 4x harder to drive on ice..
oh and i got a better quote, 4200 yearly (CDN)
Oh and some questions,Is it okay to give it the once in a while flooring, like while ur in 3rd gear and to just floor it? and is it okay to rev in like neutral to test boost
Is it Right that, when approaching a light in say 3rd, I usually press the clutch in, put it in neutral then coast towards the light, when stopped i put it in 1st and wait, now when the light turns and i find the friction point i give it gas and let go of the clutch, everything there ok?>

Another question.. hmm nobody seems to answer , I Cant really hear the whine on the supercharged, I have floored it in 2nd and 3rd a couple times just to test, didnt really seem all too fast but then again its only got 350 KM on it, would this be a cause? I have the heat on Hi all the time since it is freezing here, another cause? just very curiouse need feedback on questions!! thanks guys

I normally break lightly until the engine is a bout 1K, then pressing the clutch. This allows the engine to do some of the braking and take a little strain off the brakes. While waiting at the light leave it in neutral and let out the clutch, but stay firm on the brake. Then just be for the light changes, put it into first.
Don't floor it for the first 500miles ( can't remember the Km conversion). Wait till the engine is broken in before putting heavy strain on her. The whine isn't as noticable with the heater on, because the vents and fans drone it out. It really isn't that noticable with stock intake until higher rpms.
As for stalling, the biggest problem I had was adjusting to the lag of the drive by wire. I didn't realize that was the problem til Bulldog71ss mentioned at a meet. (While parked, lightly press the gas and watch how it takes a second to react to the input) Start pressing the gas lightly a split second before releasing the clutch. Also let off the gas a split second before pressing in the clutch to prevent it from over reving.
Hope this helps.

^thanks helped alot, Also I have floored it a couple times about 5 or 6, did i ruin the car in anyway? I'll just stop untill I have about 1k KM. Im a bit worried now, any more input?

Should be ok, but I wouldn't do it any more. Just the stuff you read in the manual, don't keep one speed too long for first 1k Km, don't use the Cruise Control for the first 1k K, don't rev too high for first 1k Km (4500 or higher), etc. Just be gentle at first. Also enjoy the car. Congrats on the purchase.
EDIT: I would recomend reading the manual if you havn't already.
