My SS S/C is HERE!
when I test drove the car ... I floored it ... when I test drove the next one I floored it ... when I test drove the one I now own ... I floored it ... often ... before the break in ... the thing is to NOT drive at the same speed all the time ... give the engine a work out some times accelerating quickly other times drive like a grandma ... my uncle bought a new truck some years back and the engine died on him as he was on the highway with the cruise on ... when he got the next truck they said not to use the cruise until the engine was broken in and to not drive the same speed constantly

oh and i got a better quote, 4200 yearly (CDN)
Oh and some questions,Is it okay to give it the once in a while flooring, like while ur in 3rd gear and to just floor it? and is it okay to rev in like neutral to test boost
Is it Right that, when approaching a light in say 3rd, I usually press the clutch in, put it in neutral then coast towards the light, when stopped i put it in 1st and wait, now when the light turns and i find the friction point i give it gas and let go of the clutch, everything there ok?>

why the hell would you bump a 2 year old thread to ask something dumb
Truth be told these cars have a f-ed up clutch pedal. This is not my first manual car and it took me like a good 8000 miles to really be able to leave lights at hills with it and not stall it. Even now sometimes i use the e brake if a car is real close behind me. I never had that problem with my neon...then again they have a linear pedal and much better feel.
Oh wow. i just noticed the "2 YEAR" bump. weird

I normally break lightly until the engine is a bout 1K, then pressing the clutch. This allows the engine to do some of the braking and take a little strain off the brakes. While waiting at the light leave it in neutral and let out the clutch, but stay firm on the brake. Then just be for the light changes, put it into first.
Don't floor it for the first 500miles ( can't remember the Km conversion). Wait till the engine is broken in before putting heavy strain on her. The whine isn't as noticable with the heater on, because the vents and fans drone it out. It really isn't that noticable with stock intake until higher rpms.
As for stalling, the biggest problem I had was adjusting to the lag of the drive by wire. I didn't realize that was the problem til Bulldog71ss mentioned at a meet. (While parked, lightly press the gas and watch how it takes a second to react to the input) Start pressing the gas lightly a split second before releasing the clutch. Also let off the gas a split second before pressing in the clutch to prevent it from over reving.
Hope this helps.
