when I test drove the car ... I floored it ... when I test drove the next one I floored it ... when I test drove the one I now own ... I floored it ... often ... before the break in ... the thing is to NOT drive at the same speed all the time ... give the engine a work out some times accelerating quickly other times drive like a grandma ... my uncle bought a new truck some years back and the engine died on him as he was on the highway with the cruise on ... when he got the next truck they said not to use the cruise until the engine was broken in and to not drive the same speed constantly

oh and i got a better quote, 4200 yearly (CDN)

Oh and some questions,Is it okay to give it the once in a while flooring, like while ur in 3rd gear and to just floor it? and is it okay to rev in like neutral to test boost

Is it Right that, when approaching a light in say 3rd, I usually press the clutch in, put it in neutral then coast towards the light, when stopped i put it in 1st and wait, now when the light turns and i find the friction point i give it gas and let go of the clutch, everything there ok?>

This is my first manual to. Took it to the track at 1500km. Dont even know its there anymore. My friend forced me to learn first in a hill before teaching me anything. You will love it when you get used to it (Especially when you hit 4500) omg I love my cobalt.

I sometimes kind of like that the car is hard to shift. it makes me feel kind of good that I can drive it. Plus when you hop into almost any other manual, there is almost no thinking or paying attention when shifting. It comes so easd

Don't floor it for the first 500miles ( can't remember the Km conversion). Wait till the engine is broken in before putting heavy strain on her. The whine isn't as noticable with the heater on, because the vents and fans drone it out. It really isn't that noticable with stock intake until higher rpms.

As for stalling, the biggest problem I had was adjusting to the lag of the drive by wire. I didn't realize that was the problem til Bulldog71ss mentioned at a meet. (While parked, lightly press the gas and watch how it takes a second to react to the input) Start pressing the gas lightly a split second before releasing the clutch. Also let off the gas a split second before pressing in the clutch to prevent it from over reving.

Hope this helps.
THANK YOU. i hate this, this is my second manual car, ive been driving manual for about 1.5 years before i got this car so im pretty decent. i noticed right away how the gas takes a second to register, its the cause of everytime i stall! i still havent gotten used to it 100% yet after 3800 KMs. but its getting more and more routine. but hey everyone stalls once in a while. its not the clutch thats the problem its the drive by wire. my first manual car was a 85 RWD v8 mustang (alot of power) and it had a centerforce prefromance clutch and i couldnt understand why i was having soo much trouble learning to drive the 'balt.!
