ottp turbo kit review
I'm going to use this thread to document what I do with this setup.
will have the car out actually driving this weekend and some numbers soon after that
I will dyno the car in different stages as I will be needing to upgrade my fuel system a little more over the next week or 2
but anyway on to the good stuff.
First off, this was my first time installing a turbo kit on this car (last 3 setups were home built with random parts I scored deals on) let me tell you how much easier and nicer it came out.
motor:
2.0 lsj 10:1 comp diamond pistons
some kind of sleeves designed for diesel pulling motors
4340 rods stock crank
arp head bolts, stock head gasket
ZZP st 2 s/c cams (originally was doing an m62 nitrous build, but you know)
exedy hyper single clutch
aem 320lph e85 pump
79 lb racetronix injectors (need some 1600's)
e85 is the fuel of choice
s256 turbo (will run it til I run out of fuel for now)
meth injection
and a 100 shot on top since this turbo is a little small
on to the photo's, please I know my car is dirty and looks terrible, I don't care about appearence it's how it performs is what matters
I will be updating more after I get it out and tuned this weekend so keep an eye out
onto the pictures
the tear down
turbo mani is in
oil feed setup is great, much better then the way we used to do it back in the day
nice tial wastegate
the insane intake manifold
charge pipes a goin in, nice to have an actual intake this time, always ran a screen on the old setups
oil return line in and wastegate dump
plenty of clearance around the downpipe
zzp fmic for now (ottp ones weren't in at the time of ordering)
big ol air filter
rest of charge pipes in, very clean setup
and the finished product
and a quick idle vid with open downpipe
any install questions feel free to post up and I'd be happy to answer ya.

Having worked at a body shop makes me cringe seeing people run without a crash bar or with one that's hacked up. Just because I've seen how much damage there is from low speed hits on cars when the crash bar is actually there to absorb it. You should run one of the intercooler sprayers on your new setup and see if it makes any difference

idle was at 950 or so car is pretty much untuned for anything at this point, haven't had time. basically just tuned enough to idle lol.
as for the crash bar, eh, I am picking up a new one to replace this, just hasnt come in yet. will be swapped real soon.
and god the amount of money in heat exchangers that just came out of the car made me cringe driving it in nyc
especailly since the first day I drove it in 9 months I got rear ended

the piping only has so much to do with it. the exhaust manifold is a exact replica for the most part of the pre cast zzp manifolds and the downpipes similar too. for the log manifold i would do the cast one all day. a lot less failure points. thats why im pretty sure zzp went cast when they started with the lnfs. that sch10 piping couldnt handle the heat.

and I agree cast is the way to go, but cost always factors in I guess.

So the turbo manifold has the same mounting points, the flanges are a different design though. My air intake pipe and down pipe are slightly different but using the same turbo manifold makes everything universal. ZZP has a good design manifold in my opinion and a lot of people already have it. This allows me to sell a intake manifold and ic piping kit to someone with ZZP parts.
Even cast manifolds crack with time. The ZZP cast manifold appears to have the mold made from a sch10 tig welded manifold so wall thickness would be the same.
EDIT: I also compared a Vulcan log manifold to the ZZP when I started, mounting point was about 1/4" different.

chasing down a mystery oil leak, but took it out for a few pulls yesterday, and damn didn't realize how much I missed the power of the turbo.
on wastegate (21-22psi) car pulled pretty damn strong, broke the tires in 2nd and 3rd. mind you tune is setup very very conservative right now, but it pulls strong as hell, and ahh missed the scream of an open wastegate, scared the crap out of my neighbors in the process lol

79's right now, no where near enough fuel in the car
gonna add an inline pump and step up to 160lb shortly.
no idea where my afr is as my wideband is being shitty. but was at 124% at 7400 rpm and 21.6 psi. probably was on the rich side judging by the setup in the tune
