a Nasty sound...

Ok... well i know its something to do with my s/c... when i hit the gas, a nasty noise comes from where i beleive is my intake manifold... It sounds like a old diesel... I think i may have lost boost, i dont drive fast enough to tell for sure at the moment... But it wont make the noise when its outta boost... Gasket maybe?

Anyone have this happen?

if you've lost boost and you're hearing a noise that sounds like marbles in a tin can, you'll need to replace your coupler

did you just change the oil in your engine? jw

it's still unclear if the marbles in the can sound is related to the coupler or the a/c compressor...either way you don't lose boost because of it.

If you're hearing a loud sound it's likely an exhaust leak...check your exhaust flanges and the flexpipe.

well, the easiest way to detect a bad coupler is to remove the belt and spin the pulley by hand back and forth.....feel for slop

bump...

What would happen if an injector stopped working or possibly one of the electrical connections came off the vacuum valve on the s/c? Would it make a crazy noise?

the noise is seriously like, standing next to a harley, but a little quieter, it makes that same rumbling noise, like i have a v6 under the hood with straight pipes...

Check header and downpipe for leaks. Also check around the SC as it might be a gasket leak there.
If it was an injector one of your pistons would be saying hi to you from the hole in your hood

lol ... *waves at piston*...

If i were to look at my engine it sounds like its coming from behind the s/c.. i cant tell if its by the header or the intake manifold...

my guess is that once again, the high quality gm flex pipe has snapped causing a big exhaust leak and rattling.

i have this exact same problem now too, makes the terrible noise when i accelerate but only during boost, and it's not the coupler. usually when the coupler goes out the sound is present only at idle, more like rocks in a can or cup or something. hence i think it's the gasket, flexpipe, or dp leak.
