Need desperate help

Ok so im throwin the infamous p0171 code and also the car when started spews water from the tailpipe and the rpms kinda jump around when first started but after the car sits it idles steady. Is the water from the tailpipe normal in cold weather? I have had this intake on my car since april and have never had a problem with the p0171 code.

lol like its not flooding out of the tailpipe it just looks like my exhaust is spitting water. Does it have to do with the fact that its cold?

and it only spits water when i tap on the gas so i guess you could say its dripping but when i press on the gas it shoots the water out of course cuz im pushing air through it.

guys come on now.....doesn't any one know the byproducts of combustion and a catalyst?

water is a byproduct of combustion, if we had 100% efficient combustion we would dispel 1gallon of water per gallon of fuel burnt.

you may be seeing more of it now because the car is burning more gas to offset the colder temps and/or your just paying attention to it more.

ok cool thats what i figured i usually freak myself out about stupid things like this. Any idea on the p0171 code? Im afraid if i take it to the dealer they are gonna tell me that its the intake and charge me 80 bucks to just tell me that. I have had the injen on the car for at least 10,000 miles without a single problem. A few weeks ago i put a 2.85 pulley on my car and it has gotten pretty cold recently. Could that have anything to do with it?

you are just seeing the water in your exhaust cool and condense in the cold winter air.

during the summer time it stays hot so it evaporates away.

as far as the code... mine throws that every once in a while (cheap ass filter) as long as the car is running good you'll be fine.

my RPMS are kinda jumpy when I first get the car going in the morning... but she settles down quickly enough...

there is supposedly a reflash available from GM to stop that issue.

I used to be throwing the p0171 code w/ my airbox mod, realized one of the rubber flanges on the intake was folded in near one of the clamps and letting in a little bit of unmetered air. I'd just make sure everything is fit and secure, otherwise i've also heard the old style intake manifold gasket could be the problem, but that is a pain to replace sometimes.

As for water spewing out the back, thats normal for every car

Clean your MAF with CRC MAF cleaner or electronics cleaner and make sure all clamps are secure. That should fix your problem. You will also need to clear the CEL obviously too.

As for the exhaust water, just like 06Black said it's normal!

you answered your CEL question in your own post.

i'm guessing you have either the stock 38lb or the stage 42lb injectors....prob the stockers.

now you've droped to a pulley size that almost demands a 60lb injector, that and a CAI and what ever other mods you have, add in the cold weather and you've got a car who's fuel trims are sooo god dam outta wack that it tosses that code.

tune the bitch with a new set of injectors or ditch the pulley swap. even in the summer time, even if the code goes away, thats not a safe set up IF your one the 38lb'ers
