New 06 SS/SC 4 ME
Ok so I am getting the SS/SC in either red or black. My buddy who races his WRX is hooking me up with everything that I tell him to, I do still have to pay for it. I am going to do 20% tint, stock black rims 18 inch and thats it for the appearance. Then I will get an AEM cold air intake, GReddy Exhaust, supercharger pulley upgrade, and a reflash. Any clue on how much HP gain I would get to or at least what HP I will be at in the end? I can tell you that all of this will cost me below $1200

1) The AEM intake is the worst one on the market, minimal gains, and a waste of money.
2) Greddy does not make an exhaust (or anything for that matter) for the SS/SC.
So....if you mod as you want to, you'll get about 30hp gain from the pulley and reflash...

So if the AEM is the worst do you think you could tell me of a better one or the best maybe. Also if Greddy does not make one for the Cobalt then who does? I'm looking for the best parts considering cost, so if you know anything help me out please.

go with gm stage 2 then do the injen cai. if you want a exhaust manifold go with gmpp b/c there isnt a really good header out there for cheap cti is out there but it slik 700 for header and down pipe where gmpp is like 280. as for exhaust you have gmpp, borla, corsa, magnaflow. i have corsa and have to say it is prob one of the best but the MOST expensive. but you have to PAY to PLAY.

Ok I am getting everything custom made from this company in Atlanta called Lethal Injections. I am getting custom intake, fuel injector, everything for the car to breathe better. Then of course when you let it breathe in better you gotta let it out, so I am also getting a custom dual exhaust which will be cool. The supercharger pulley will be changed out and after all of this a reflash comes to give it even more power than it could before. I might or might not get a boost increase, if I did it would only be a couple PSI. Then finally a custom made clutch upgrade to smooth all of this out, so it wont wear and tear as much. Wish me luck, I have seen quite a few good cars roll out of this place. Thanks for the help.

Custom made clutch? Custom injectors?
Make it easy on yourself and just get GM's stage 2 kit, it comes with larger injectors, a new belt, a smaller pulley and a reflash (everything you want and need in one GM backed package). If you're planning on having this performance shop do a custom tune on your car using a dyno and some sort of programmer, just forget it. There are no programmers on the market for the SS/SC making this impossible. Also, if you get a smaller pulley than stock you WILL get a gain in boost, whether you plan on it or not. As for this custom made clutch, I really have no idea what that means. Just get a Spec stage 2 and a Fidenza lightened flywheel and be done with it.
Some people have some strange plans with these cars...

I thought you couldn't go straight to stage 2. Dont you have to go to stage 1 first? And what I mean by custom is just custom fitted (cost less) and guaranteed to work or money back. If you can go straight to stage 2 then I will do that and if not....

Yeah I definitely hope your not talking about me. I came hear to learn and discuss about options and upgrades on a Cobalt, not to flame people. If you feel that I am "stupid" then don't even look at this thread. Anyway, the stage 2 does sound like a good idea, I think I will go ahead and do that. As for the intake I will look at Ingen since nobody said anything was wrong with it.

I did research on it. It's Injen and won't it give you more HP and torque than advertised when you do the Stage 2 GM kit and then add the exhaust on top of that? Or what about just a muffler will that do anything for HP gain or the sound.
