new gmpp clutch, break in period??
bout to pick up my car with these new goodies installed
GMPP clutch upgrade kit
zzp stg1 axles (300wtq)
new flywheel
new throwout bearing
lnf shifter linkage
also just installed gmpp pedal set few days ago (big difference in gas pedal stiffness, great upgrade) and when i get the car home i'ma throw in my twm kit! SO sphyched!
ANYWHO! since this only pertains to the clutch, how long should i wait till i can start laying some rubber and slamming gears and launching like a boss?
my hypothesis is wait ~500 miles just driving like a girl, but idk i like opinions.

it will smell like a dead rodent at first for a couple weeks when it heats up. if you ride the clutch on a hill at a stop light or pulling up on ramps you will smell it, and it's f-ing nasty so i would refrain from doing that for a while lol. not that you should ever ride the clutch like that, but just as a fair warning.

Well just got the car back, runs like a champ. Lot moar pedal pressure and much lower biting point. Havent smelled a dead rodent yet but yea trying to keep slip to a minimum for now
Lower bite point will ease up as that clutch breaks in.
I did 500 city miles when I put my ACT clutch in.
Man, that thing was brutal right after the install.. Going in reverse was funny as hell - lift up a little on the clutch and I was going at least 10 down my driveway, lol.

I had zzp stage 3 put in. I was told to slip it a little, and don't do hard / aggressive shifts with it for around 500 miles. As such I did that, **** the drive back from ZZP was 480 miles, and a LOT of it was start / stop especially in the Chicago area. Anyway I drove it nice, but slipped it when starting off in first gear for a while, did slow shifts from gear to gear in the break in period. I don't know how much it actually matters, but whatever.
Now, on a hard run, shifting into 2nd and getting tire spin is a LOT better than getting clutch smell.

Your best price is to get it from crate engine depot. I just did the swap myself a few weeks back. It actually isn't bad at all. I just followed the LSJ build book instructions. I had a friend pay a shop $600 to swap his a few months ago. He helped do the swap with me and couldn't believe he paid someone to do it haha.
Here's the quote from the build book:
its a bit cheesy but gets the point across.
Driving your car with that new clutch should be done with care for the first few heat cycles
so dont plan on drag racing in the first 10 minutes out. Once you have a few easy engagements
in the clutch and at least one heat cycle, the clutch should be ready for regular usage
if there is such a thing with one of these rockets!

after installing mine i had trouble for a few weeks getting mine into gear at higher rpms when going to switch gears quickly. dunno if it was me getting used to it or what but its on my list of best mods done to car. youll enjoy it!
did my catback purchase from you fund this? lol

I couldn't swallow paying someone $600 to change my clutch. I honestly couldn't believe how easy it was after doing it. Took me 8 hours to swap. That was including building an engine cradle to hold the motor while the trans was out haha. I could swap it in half the time next time around.
I meant the motor swap...he bought the GMPP clutch from the dealer. 9-3 uses exact engine as LSJ

Never heard of this... if it makes the gas stiffer I am gonna look into this FOR SURE. In first our cars are sooo touchy... is that why you did the mod?

I actually like the touchiness. It forces you to learn better throttle modulation. Once you learn, it is no longer a problem. I guess you have to have the willingness to learn it though.
