New to lsj
So I've had my cobalt for about a year now and I've done a few mods (gms2, injen intake, zzp pcm) and I'm kinda worried abt running my car hard. Also dosent have as much power as I assumed it would. I want to do more mods but was wondering what stock internals are good till. And if my 7200 redline is too high? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

stock internals are fine for what you have. IMHO, you paid too much for that gm stage 2. ZZP's or even OTTP's stage kit would have been better. Put it this way: people slap turbos on the lsj and are pushing these engines close to 400 hp without replacing internals (although sleeves are usually fatigued around that time).

7200 is to high if you dont have aftermarket springs, id turn it down a bit.
it sounds like you have plenty of air coming in, but not enough exhaust getting out, id at least get a header or downpipe and you would see an improvement

I honestly wouldn't run 42's on anything smaller than the gm stage 2 pulley. After seeing my buddy's idc's with a 2.9 and 42's, I'd say just get 60's. Besides, tuning for 60's than 42's gives you more leeway as far how much fuel you can flow.

Haha. I would love to have a custom tune but I can't find n e 1 in ga who has HPT or trifecta that dosent charge an arm and a leg for a tune. I mean $500 is descent. But I can't find one for less than $900. And that's too high for me. Lol. What kind of header downpipe would y'all go with?

why would ott offer it on their kit as an option if they thought it would mess something up and come back and burn their reputation? just food for thought.
but there are plenty of people who have done it, with no problems

have an example. you can run 350+ hp and run stock axles at the track and make 40-50 passes and wonder why your axles broke.
you can make 400 pulls on your motor and wonder why your valves bent...

the only dummis blowing there **** up are the ones with **** tunes
the tune has more of an effect on the engine then rpm the stock internals will more then handle above 7200
when your ***** drop youll start going fast

Calm down kids he needs advice not 2 Lil school girls bickering at each other. I got zzp stage 3 kit with midlength setup and it made a good difference IMO. My car rev limit it 7500 but never try to use them all just stay around 6500 or 6000 to be safe. Unless ur going for real hp then don't worry about internals you still gotta get traction or all that hp is going to waste and a good tune helps.

Woww. I didn't mean to cause an argument. I don't rlly hit the rev limiter all that much. I was rlly just wondering wat I can do to make decent power out of this motor. And if anyone know how I can find a reputable tuner near ga. And thanks for all the help so far. It's much appreciated. Lol.
