I actually think the popping is cool on exhausts in general. The smell is welding chemicals and what not burning off. My exhaust had the same thing after it was installed.

Question, If I just bought the muffler since our cars have 2.5 stock piping, will I see the same gains and will it sound the same?

Nope they have a different resinator than the stock one. That would affect the sounds some how.

Not only that but my understanding is that our exaust goes from 2.5 to the resinator, and then goes into 2.25 piping which connects to the muffler.

The magnaflow is full 2.5.

The video you saw of my car, I did one justs like it on my brothers 3 inch custom with 3 inch magnaflow muffler. Its REALLY loud. Too load, hes going to buy the one I have. I will post the vid when I get home from work so you can see the difference.
