New Smoothflow Pulleys product possibility!
New Smoothflow Pulleys product possibility!
I would like to start offering alternator pulleys for the Cobalt's, does anyone have a stock one they would be willing to send me? In return I would be happy to ship it back along with a new aluminum replacement within 2 days. I will offer these in overdrive, underdrive, and stock sizes but they will be much lighter than stock!
I actually hinted about this over a year ago, but had to be coy since I wasn't a supporting vendor at the time. Hopefully someone can get an alternator pulley sent to me asap so I can start offering lightweight versions in any custom size you want.
Thanks,
Nate

All I need is the alternator pulley to get dimensions from.

Underdrive crank pulleys are smaller but underdrive accessory pulleys (alternator, power steering, waterpump, etc.) are larger. It means that they take more linear belt movement for each rotation so each engine revolution it turns fewer times than stock.
Overdrive on the other hand is smaller and the point of it would be to increase the system voltage for individuals who are running large stereos and want to keep their fuel pressure up and head lights from dimming at lower engine speeds. The smaller pulley will be spun faster at the same engine RPM therefore producing more voltage at idle. When the engine is running faster the voltage regulator will kick in and limit it so you won't need to worry about burning up any electric motors.

Just as a heads up...the LSJ alternator pulley is internally clutched for movement only in one direction for some reason.
This is why turbo swap guys switch to a 2.2 alternator instead of running the 2.0L one in reverse.
