Ummm 20 buck per plug?
Thats a rip what kind are you getting?

NGK BKR7E it's a copper one step colder plug you can get it at autozone for a 1.47 per plug.
I swapped out and enjoy mine.

Those are the exact ones I asked for and Murrays wanted that much, I thought they were outta their minds when they told me that.

ok...dumb question that i have been curious about for a long time...why does everyone have one step colder plugs rather than just leaving the stock ones in? What does it do?

Just go to AutoZone or NAPA and tell them NGK BKR7E and when they ask for your car info tell them to not worry about it.

They check the database to see if the plug is on the supported car list which the BKR's are not and they freak out and in some cases raise the price. If they give you a huge hassle just order them on line.

When you go to stage 2 and start dropping to smaller pulleys ie. 2.9 and 2.8 you drop the plug coldness to help elminate early detonation due to the spark not cooling fast enough.
They say for every 50hp drop a step.

I believe it semi-compensates for the added heat with a smaller pulley/bigger injectors. And there is a noticable difference in the feel of the car with those plugs as well. At least I noticed a difference.

As long as they are gapped there should be no problem. I am not sure what the gap is on them. It differes from set up to set up. The guy who does all the work on my car did mine for me. Both he and I are running just about the same set up.

every car will be a little different. i have mine to .037. what you do is gap the plugs, and if the car doesn't run right, re-gap them. it's not hard. takes about 15-20 minutes max to change plugs if you have an idea of what you're doing.

Mine are gapped at .38 and the stock gap was .42 for mine.
Remeber thou every car is diffrent and it might be a diffrent gap for yours.
Also when you pull your stock ones out you might be suprised to see burn marks all over the bottom .

$20/plug might have been for the NGK iridium IX plugs. they have a set of 4 on zzperformance.com for under $50

there's no way they can charge $20/plug for the same thing you can get for $3 or less. They HAD to be an iridium model or something. BKR7E copper cores should never be more than $3 a pop.
