I have the Perrin oil catch can on my car. The benefit of the oil catch can is not evident immediately, but as you accumulate miles, without the catch can, you will pull some oil vapor from the crankcase into the intake. Coincidentally right upstream of the throttle body. Over time, oil sludge can build up on the throttle body plate and will usually cause idle issues. Its just a PIA to have to clean the throttle body when this happens. If you just put a crankcase breather on, you will vent (through the breather) those oil vapors into the air in the engine compartment. Be prepared to do a regular cleanup around the breather. Not to mention the fact that if you go the breather route, you will have to plug the hole at the throttle body.

You can check my picture in my VbGarage. I am not sure if any of them have the catch can in it or not. The catch can is installed on the passenger side of my engine compartment back towards the firewall (er I mean bulkhead).

You can get a good deal on the Perrin one at www.highperformanceoutlet.com

Thank for the comment on the engine compartment. BTW, the catch can comes with some really nice silicon tubing that looks better than the black stuff GM uses.
