thanks. so 2.9 pulley, 42lb and 2.5" cat-back. will i be fine to delete the cat with 2.5", or will it really not make a difference? and is there a big sound difference if you delete the cat or have it still?

2.9 and 42s is a good combo... i run it and love it.... just make sure someone tunes it w/ HPTuners. now the difference between the car w/a cat and w/out a cat... well the car is going to be louder w/out a cat and more raspy. i honestly do not know how people run these cars w/out cats.. its too loud for my liking but that is just me.

Yea it has to be tuned... If your planning on upgrading to 42s and whatever pulley you will have to have a custom tune since your not going w/ a "true GM Stg2".

the dealer said that I could buy parts separate and have them do the reflash. So as long as I stay with a 2.9 and 42lb its the same thing as the kit right?

My advise to you is to be patient modding your car and do some research before you do anything. That way you understand what and how things affect this car. So just spend a good amount of time on the site checking out what is good for the car and what is bad.

Are you talking about Randy's Performance Muffler shop? If so he does really good work.

GM S2 does not come with a 2.9 it comes with a (correct me if I am wrong) 3.06 pulley.

The best thing I can tell you is to search, everything you have asked has been answered thousands of times.

This is an ongoing fight. Some people say you lose backpressure some say you dont some say it helps some say it doesnt. It all really boils down to preference. I myself love my vibrant 3 inch exhaust. Nice and deep. If i lose a little power so be it. I would much rather drive around sounding good and bein a few hp less than driving around sounding like **** and bein a lil faster. All in all in comes down to your preference. Im not saying that 2.5 exhausts sound bad at all. Some do some dont. There just isnt an exhaust that has the deep sound that isnt 3 inch. At least deep enough for me

The reason why people are telling you to go 2.5" is because it will more than likely net more gains for your setup.

yeah i know and thats why its hard to decide. i want the sound but also the performance. but i may just go with perfomance at the end because 2.5" wont have any fitment issues and is a little cheaper!

The sound difference depends on the type of muffler and or resinator(s) that you use.
