Okay, let me see if I got this issue straight in regards to the new tensioner...

I just got the updated timing chain tensioner in the mail from CED.

I only have to remove the old one, place the new one in, and remove the valve cover to align the groove on the guide. Correct?

Nothing else.

There isn't a ratchet mechanism at all and it seems to operate solely on oil pressure, so I figure I've got this straight. Right?

chances are you wouldn't have to remove the valve cover if you just took the old one out and put the new one in. I didn't have to, but I know some others have.

the new style tensioner does not require you to remove the valve cover. just take the old one out and pop the new one in. it will make some noise on the first 2-3 seconds of the first start up and then its good to go
