Okay to take to track?

Well I've got about 1400 miles on my cobalt ss/sc so far, is it okay to take my car to the 1/4 track and run it a few times?

I blew my tranny

Of course it might not of been because the car was new, it just happened that one tire gripped and the other didn't and i had a side gear blow out the wall.

Id change the oil. Always good to change it around 1000 miles IMO. Engine break in might leave a little bit of **** in there. Get it clean first.

I always recommend changin your oil after the first 1,000 miles or so. When the motor is still in break-in you tend to get a lot of metal shavings mixed in with your oil. That is in no way good for your motor. Just imagine those metal shavings messing with everything when ur on the 1/4 goin over 80 mph at WOT... that is no good! Many bad things can happen. I ALWAYS change my oil before AND after the track day! Just to be safe!

break-in

the book says that the break in period is only 500 miles.. and it says this is just a recommendation not a definite. it says mostly not to let it run at one set speed for too long while in the break in period.
