Ottp

How reliable is the PCM you get with the OTT stage 1 kit? I was told by the shop that is installing the kit for me that it is very unreliable and I should get my car tuned after I have it put in. I need some opinions.

A personal tune is always going to be better then a canned tune, however the shop is lying to you. The only reason they are saying that is to make money. The ottp canned tune is the BEST canned tune you can buy and a pcm is a pcm. Tunes don't "go bad" and even if SOMETHING did happen ottp would work with you on it, they are a GREAT company.

Depends on your supporting mods. With just our tune and a run of the mill car maybe 5~9 whp if you run more aggressive (without meth)

Hockey - It really just depends on how aggressive your tuner decides to be. The more timing he adds the more power the cars going to make until she starts to knock. If you need a personal tune let me know .

Whats the shop installing it? Just wondering.

That tune is on quite a few cars and runs pretty good for what it is, we don't send the same tune to everyone it is custom tailored to your mods.

so its really not worth it to spend the extra money on a custom tune then if your only getting another 5-9 whp out of it? and my only mods are and intake and exhaust.

Yes you should have the car tuned afterwards because canned tunes are not the safest. Do you have cooling mods too?

What exactly are you trying to imply?

You will actually see more power leaning it out than you will going crazy w/ timing on the S/C cars. I've seen it myself messing around on the dyno w/ Matt @ TTP...

I haven't heard of anyone blowing anything on an OTTP tune which is exactly why I'm going with them. Quality product with great customer service - can't go wrong.

I would prefer to keep my afr safe and increase timing then leaning the motor out to far.

Most people prefer to use an AFR somewhere around 11.3-11.5, which is a very safe and perfectly fine ratio.

They use this and then bump up the timing here and there to get as much power as they can until knock retard hits, then they back it down a few degrees to a safe level. All I am saying is that a car can make more power w/ a little less fuel (11.7-11.9) and a little less timing.

Matt uses a Mustang dyno that will allow him to almost simulate a road tune (no wind makes it tough, but works in your favor for safety). You're pretty much below sea level, so you will be able to safely get some more power out of that tune...

AFR and timing go hand-in-hand. The "safe" tune you're talking about is just as dangerous for the motor if you go too crazy on the timing in the wrong places.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not criticizing anyone's tuning. The OTTP tune is a great tune and will run good power safely anywhere. Regardless, OTTP knows just as much as the next shop that there's more power to be had w/ a little time on a dyno or the street local to where the customer spends their time driving...

I was saying if you want the car tuned perfectly you need it tuned with hptuners and you should have cooling mods with a 2.8 pulley.
