OTTP 3' Intake Fitment

Finally installed my OTTP 3" intake on my 07' SS/SC (stock blower & throttle body), but I noticed that the inside wheel well (The big "C" plastic piece that everyone hates taking off) is resting on the intake a little bit and there is a small gap at the top because of it... Is this normal or did I have to adjust the intake a little more? Thanks

This.

Intakes for these cars all do the same thing.... increase blower whine and add around the same hp. That's it.

OP, that is normal for a 3" intake. Most will rub the fender liner. You will be ok.

Plastic will not rub through stainless steel.

belvedere is off the meds again - I agree its preference and this is about fitment. I think a lot of people have bad blood with OTTP... Including myself. I'd double check how u have it installed. My ZZP 3" is not rubbing at all. But I don't know the design difference. Good luck!

It does not fit well. What I found with one customers car, is that you can move the air filter end of the tube up inside the fender well (there are two different studs iirc) and hard mount it rather than rubber insulate it, it will be better; and on an 07 the brake lines rising up out of the ABS unit are taller than the 05-06 cars so thats and issue and may need gentle tweaking....

or sell it and get an ZZP one; ZZP actually have cars they work on and do trial fitments to make sure they work. Thats what I do on the parts we make...

has anyone actually documented a power improvement a/b with 3 inch versus stock inlet tubes? wondering

John....

I've compared a few of my intakes to my stock donaldson intake and modified airbox, but not on the dyno. I compared by MAF flow levels.

For comparrison (from a log I remember):

My Injen intake flowed: 33.05 lbs/min max (75* ambient temp)

My stock intake/modded airbox flowed: 35.03 lbs/min max (75* ambient temp)

I never tested my old Rebel 3" intake, because at the time I did not own any logging software, but I never felt a difference between any of my intakes other than changing back to the stock tubing with a k&n and modified box.

Is the OTTP a one piece or two piece intake?

I had the same issues with the RAW 3" however it was a two piece so it would give some. If you look close you can see the zip ties

Never had anymore rubbing issues though.

I believe it is a two piece design.

Just sell OTTP and get ZZP cause ZZP is 1 piece. You will be more happy with ZZP cause they're PERFECT!

I was pretty pissed off installing this. Fitment was horrible... I just might sell and go with ZZP. So a small thread jack but since I'm the OP I'm going for it haha... I have parked my car for the winter and just pulling it out now and there seems to be a big feud between OTTP and ZZP, etc. It took 6 months to ship my intake so I'm on the outs with OTTP for now on, but no one else has a TVS kit.... What do you suggest? Just piece it together ?

Don't waste your money purchasing another intake.

Play around with the OTTP intake. I bet if you mess around with it a bit more, you will get a better fitment.

i have the ottp intake, no fitment issues. when i was retuned i gained 2hp and 4tq at the wheels with the ottp vs my previous tune. going from the k&n in take to the ottp threw my tune off like crazy, causing me to lose 17hp and i think around 10tq if i remember correctly. tune was off due to a larger intake, which threw off the maf.

i would assume the zzp intake would be similar. i couldn't tell you the difference from stock on my car. one thing i did notice with the ottp was more power/pickup when down around idle. car felt like it had a bit more go to recover from lack of very low end power.

I have a ZZP 3" intake and it pushes on the fender liner too. I adjusted it every way I possibly could and can't avoid it completely. I asked Tim at ZZP about it and he said he has heard of others slightly pushing on the fenderwell also but it's because it's a tight fit. It's not just OTTP. It's just a big ass intake.

I switch ZZP big K&N air filter to universal K&N 3” air filter it's shorter than what ZZP provide. Overall no rubbing, just perfect fit with universal K&N 3” air filter. when I put them on it does slip off cause of grease on the inside of the coupler of air intake. What I do is get the grease off and make sure there isn't any grease left and rubbing til it's dry then put on ZZP CAI. It's tight fit but it works, I had it since last Aug til now. I did check and make sure if it slip off. Nope it's still on, didn't slip off.

i got the zzp cai too didnt get the filter as i figured the K&N i had strapped to my AEM would work nope

so i ordered the one they offer, that bitch is huge so i may see if my buddy can get me a trade as he works for K&N (should of saved money and got the hook up a universal 3in)

if not that big bitch is going on, i scratched the **** out of my intake trying to fit it

Okay, sounds good! I messed around with it quite a bit to get it to fit nice in the engine bay. Should I be considered about an excess amount of water going into the gap at the top of my fender and down by the filter? I do have a hydro shield...

I've never had an issue with mine. I wouldn't be concerned. Just don't use your Balt as a submarine haha.

I was one of the first to buy an OTTP intake, and I never had a single problem with either install or fitment..... Great product...
