Overboosting with Stage 2?!?!

Hey guys, did a couple of searches and couldn't find what I'm looking for. Shortly after I got the Stage 2 installed, I noticed that my boost gauge is reading at the 17.5 mark at WOT, and sometimes even creeps past that (almost to 20psi WOT in 5th). The only engine mods I have are the GM Stage 2 and the AEM intake. The downpipe/cat has also been replaced once due to it breaking between the cat and flexpipe. Anybody have any other ideas as to what it could be???

maybe your just lucky, you should take it to the track and see what times your run and compare it to other stage 2 drivers with the same mods or similar to yours

If you don't have any exhaust mods then I believe you should be boosting more than avg because of the intake. I'm not sure if it would make that much of a diff... but I think it brings the boost level up. Or possibly your cat is getting clogged?

20 psi is very strange though...

if you are overboosting I'd wager it's a clogged cat causing the problem. Get it checked.

He is not lucky. With a given pulley size, you'll have lower psi if your engine flows better (uses more air) and higher psi if your engine is restricted (uses less air). Guess what that means. The more air you use, the more power you make.

I say clogged cat. If it isn't the cat, you got some serious restriction somewhere.

I say a clogged cat or maybe someone stuck something in your tail pipe!! I would check both, peek inside your tail pipe with a flash light, cuz you shouldnt be boosting that high, I'm running a 2.85 pulley with my stage2 and only boost 16.5psi with stock exhaust
