P0133 trouble code after ZZP shorty header install

Hey guys quick question for you. Just last week I installed my new ZZP shorty header along with a brand new Denso front primary 02 sensor. At the same time I also had ZZP flash my PCM with their 1.0 LSJ PCM tune. Of course I had ZZP tune my PCM to all of my current upgrades.

At this time I still have the factory downpipe & cat back however in the next few weeks I will be installing my new ZZP 3" DP & 3" cat back to go along with my new 3" ZZP shorty header that I just installed.

Anyhow after installing the shorty header, new Denso 02 sensor & putting back in my newly flashed PCM the car ran great in fact it's never ran this good it's like brand spankin new!

After about 3-4 days of back & forth freeway driving to work my CEL came on. The car still runs great I can get into boost & everything but the dam cel is on so I took it over to the shop & the only trouble code that came back is P0133 which according to the shop P0133 it says HO2S Slow Response Sensor 1. It says that the bank 1 sensor 02 electrical circuit was responding slower than required for a predetermined period of time.

I also installed a new exhaust header gasket & header to down pipe gasket during my install so I know I don't have any leaks.

According to ZZP their telling me when you install a header the tube is so much larger than the o2 doesn't get as much exhaust so they do throw a o2 code occasionally.

Do you guys have any advice as to what if any I can do to fix this & get rid of this trouble code ? I'm being told that it's not going to hurt anything other than possibly my MPG.

Any advice that you guys could give would be great thanks!

Get the proper oxygen sensor. NTK made by NGK (oem replacement).

Denso oxygen sensors for what ever reason act up in these cars. I know this, I tired one once.

ZZP's response is silly.

I've had all types of exhaust setups, and none of them ever caused a CEL.

I thought that the Denso brand was the OEM sensors on these cars ?

Hey staged ZZP will have my PCM here in a couple of days for a tune & they said that they can just set the code to not light up the cel. They assured me that it will not have any negative effects on the car. What do you think ?

I am never a fan off just turning off codes to fix the problem.

I can 95% guarantee it is due to using that denso oxygen sensor. Return it for an AC Delco (NTK) oxygen sensor.

Hey Staged sorry to bother you on this O2 sensor again however I want to make sure that I ordered the right one. I know you said to get the NTK but then in your last post you mentioned something about AC Delco. Below you will find 2 screen shots one for the NTK & the other for the AC Delco. If you could please let me know which one your referring to that would be great thanks man.photo973.jpgphoto335.jpg

I had the slow response code from a mid length header, but it's also possible I had an older sensor that was slow, I had baked it many times with harsh nitrous use. But as staged said just turning off a code when there's a better fix isn't the best option. I've also never seen the slow response code set on a shorty header, which isn't really any longer than a stock header.

Thanks Italian joe. It's a brand new Denso O2 sensor that I had installed last week with my shorty header so I know it's not being caused by a bad sensor. It's like Staged said our cars just don't like the Denso sensors for whatever reason which is why I'm replacing it with the NTK that he had recommended.

I'm just wanting to double check that I got the right sensor this time. He had mentioned NTK but also AC Delco & unless I'm not searching them right it appears that they are two different sensors.

You need the primary O2 sensor.

The one with the long wire is the secondary.
