Pcm

Okay so I plan to get the zzp stage 3 kit, I would like to send in my pcm first to avoid the refundable core charge. The problem is I'll need to get my car to my buddy's shop to do all the work because he's got the pulley puller, lift and all the other good toys. So I was wondering, can I put the new pcm in before the new parts are installed to drive it a short distance over to the shop? Or will that hurt my car? Keep in mind the canned tune will be for the smaller pulley, new h/e, bigger fuel injectors, etc... I feel like the answer is no I cannot because it will hurt my car but I just want to check.

Actually just the opposite... It will start and run very rich until it goes into closed loop then try to trim back. Are you running a catted downpipe now?

actually, quite the opposite. with the new pcm (tuned for larger injectors) and the stock injectors it will run very lean. once it runs long enough (if it will stay running long enough) the fuel trims will max to +18%, but it still wouldnt be enough fuel to be able to drive it.

if you install the new pcm and the fuel injectors at your house you will be able to drive it without any of the other kit parts installed.

I was assuming he was already at stage 2 60lb. and staying at 60lb. Jumping straight to Stage 3 yeah.

Thanks for the responses guys! Yes I'm running a high flow catted downpipe now. And no I'm still on stock injectors, I'm getting 60 lbs Injectors with the kit.

So basically if I install the new injectors and new pcm at my house I'll be okay to drive it to the shop without the smaller pulley, new belt, or new h/e? The shops only like 10 minutes away maybe even less.

Yes.... Let it run in closed loop and stay under 50% throttle opening.
