Phenolic Spacers

Seems like a novel idea, but how well do they really work?

Can anyone give any input? I was looking at the ZZP Intake Spacer and wondering if it really helps keep the heat off the manifold, lower IATs, etc.

I have the zzp spacer, it works great. Significantly reduces heat soak. No matter what the engine temp is I can put my fingers on the intake runners right where it meets the head and it is only mildly warm. I have no idea why one would want a phenolic spacer between the SC and LIM because there would be no benefit.

Thanks man. Glad you popped in. I've seen how much diff cooling stuff you've tried.

And as far as the sc to LIM...figured the sc heated up and would cause heat soak too...

True, but it couldn't hurt?

well the spacer between the s/c and the lim would stop the blower from adding heat from metal to metal transfer

Have any pics?

Is this a big concern and how did you deal with it?

This would be cool if someone could come up with the difference in the IAT2 numbers without and with that spacer, I was considering buying it.

Posting AIT's for the most part is hearsay and most of the time bullshit. Saying that, FWIW the zzp spacer doesn't drop ait's in any fashion on a pull from what I noticed it helps with heatsokk while you sit and idle and stops the LIM and SC from taking on heat from the engine. Since I installed mine the same time as the single pass and pullied down to a 2.9 on the tvs my ait's on a pull where way diff then before. The only thing I can say for sure is the heatsoak dropped significantly. As far as the SC to LIM spacer goes, from what I understand the SC heats up from the friction of the air as it passes through the sc. That exact same air is immediately deposited in the LIM, a cannot see any reason why a spacer between the two would benefit you in any way.

As far as I'm concerned I have taken the stock LIM laminova to air setup to the edge of it's efficiency. Stay tuned, this winter I have plans to make a air/air setup for my car.

send this company a lower intake manifold gasket and sc to lower mani gasket and they will make you one of there spacers, they have a video of there materials cooling affects on youtube, Im just to lazy to find it. And there is a benefit to isolating the m62 from the lower intake manifold

Thats a good link, but the spacers are already made cheaper for us form other vendors.

Is ZZP the only vendor making the intake to head spacer? I'd try this, I just not for $100 lol.

the blower spacer is mainly meant for people spraying meth after the blower, or nitrous. Instead of loosing it through the blower and TB all the meth being spraying is going right into the intake

I deal with phenolic material all the time....I am going to get a intake to head gasket, and have one CNC machined for me...the problem is, that when cutting phenolic(aircraft grade), it is highly toxic, but the guy who'll do it for me is a master at doing **** like this.
