piece fell in manifold

Well i was cleaing my supercharger and was putting it back in the car. well one of the spacer/bracket pieces fell out of the hole it was in and well went right into the manifold. so i'm wondering if it would cause a problem due to it being aluminum or if there is a lip at the end of the manifold and its just sitting there and isn't going to go anywhere. i just want some kind of solution before trying to start my car agian. i thought of using a shop vac to try and suck it out to but if it isn't going to cause a problem i won't worry about it. any help would be appcieated..

this happened to someone a few days ago on here, i think he wound up having to take off the manifold but it wasnt even in there... if ur sure its in there, yea use a shop vac w/ a filter to catch a the piece, or a magnet pen thats about it without taking the mani off

Make sure you get it out first before starting it

Do not start it, My buddy unknowingly had this happen and it cost him a supercharger, it got sucked up into the rotors, remove the mani if necessary but get it out.

yeah i'm sure it went down in there. it was kinda like standing in front of a soccer goal and throwing a golfball at it. your really not going to miss it. is there a lip at the bottom of the man or end of it? if there is i'll just leave it there

Haha I did this same thing a few days ago. I took a shop vac and attached a 1/2in hose to it and stuck it down inside and it sucked it out. But make sure you are positive that it sucked out. A lose piece in there could destroy your blower. I ended up taking off my manifold and removing the laminova coils just to be certain that it wasnt in there

yeah i knew not to start it thats why i let it sit all night last night. i was all night and didn't want to mess with it till today other wise i probably would have just started it and said the heck with it. the shop vac sounded like a good idea to me.

This would be an equivalent

well i'm starting to think it didn't go down in there. due to the fact that last night i drove for a 30-hr and hit boost for the last 15 all the time and nothing happened. when i was looking for it yesterday i had a vacuum in the mani with a 1/4 in hose and nothing came up. so i took the hose wrapped it in duck tape and shoved it in the mani to stick it to the tape and i did this for an hr and neither the vacuum nor the tape got anything. so I'm thinking it fell somewhere else. plus i took the hose while the car was running and put it to the mani and listened to it to see if i could hear the piece possibly bouncing around in the bottom of the bowl and nothing. So i'm thinking ill be ok

Easiest way to find it is to drive it around until you hear a lot of bad noises. Go home, pull off supercharger and take it out of supercharger. Throw out original supercharger and replace with new one.
Actually listening to everyone and taking off the manifold takes a little more work but may be much cheaper in the long run. It all depends if you value your time in the region of $100's/hour or $/hour as to which is more cost effective.
