pluged cat?
plugged cat?
A friend of mine called me today and said his exhaust got alot quieter. It made no sense to me but the car starts and runs, but it is a hell of alot quieter. Is this the sign of a plugged cat? I searched and didnt find a whole lot

you replace it....or if your state doesn't have emissions testing, you can get a screwdriver or long pointy object and break up the insides of the cat and shake it out. of course...you'll throw a code, but you can have it tuned out
for clarification, exhaust gases are trying to escape out the tailpipe, but can't, so pressure builds up in the combustion chamber and when the intake valve opens, it tries to escape that way, but it runs into incoming air.
if i was you for a temp fix just take a pipe... or anything long enough to reach down it ( drive it down into the cat and just keep punching at it... tones of stuff will poor out so do it so u can clean it up... but reach up in there with neddle nose, fingers, and keep punching at it till its all out. TADA fixed the problem.. now u can get a straight pipe welded in or just drive like that( looks like a cat is there, but sounds super raspy when u get on it.)
