Plugs & Wires Help

Well apparently there's a good amount of carbon on the inside of my muffler and it's dawned on my cousin and myself that a tune-up might be in order. I planned on going and getting platinum plugs, nothing amazing or super aftermarket, I don't race after all but I'm curious if anyone has any advice? I was probably going with Bosch or AC Delco if they had platinum (I don't know tbh).

well you dont have to worry about wires, lsjs have coil on spark ignition, no wires

i use ngk iridium ix's two heat ranges colder, but you could use iridium ix's with stock heat range

No wires? Nice! I loved changed the plugs & wires on my Monte Carlo LS (1996) with a V6 engine. It was impossible to reach those back plugs without taking off the alternator so working on an inline-4 will make me so happy. Anyway, how long do these last and how are they with the car?

Honestly, copper plugs are better for our application...

Iridiums do not do well with boost. And really, you only need one heat ranger colder than stock, because technically our plugs are one step colder from factory.

Autolite 3922 are my favorites (Autolite 3923 are stock range).. i forgot the ngk part number.. i think its 4644...

Ngk bkr8e's which are essentially autolite 3922's which is part number 4644 I believe also. Either of those plugs gapped at .035 do really well for my motor.

What exactly makes copper better than platinum for us? Simple conductivity?

I'll look into this thanks.

What is OEM on this car? I found some Denso one's online as direct OEM but I copied and pasted something else so I lost the part number too but it was NGK something. It could have been copper there was no description.

they conduct better, heat up and cool down quicker, the only downside is that they do not last as long as regular or iridium plugs, i use copper as well, they work great and are very cheap (in price). i also use the autolites only i gapped mine closer (.032 i believe)

What are we talking for mileage here? Are we talking 10,000 miles? 20,000 miles?

i'd say every oil change would be a good idea, i noticed mine was running rough 2 oil changes later so i swapped the plugs and i picked up 8mpg and it ran smooth again so i'd say every oil change or every 2 oil changes minimum, the plugs are cheap as heck so it shouldn't be that big of a problem

i do enjoy the iridiums because i find them to be a little more predictable for ignition timing, and i dont see a performance difference between the copper and iridiums

LOL this post is full of fail, you don't pick up 8 miles to the gallon from changing your plugs, I don't care how dirty they are.

I generally change my plugs every oil change, or every 3-5k miles because they are really cheap and it's something that I can do pretty easily myself. Like I said, I highly recommend the ngk bkr7e's, these copper plugs work great with our cars. I recommend a gap of .035 also.
