poping noise

i was WOT in 2nd gear and i got a slight stop in the engine with a pop sound.....it wasnt really noticable but it happened really fast.....infact so fast that idk if it was my imagination or not. now idk if its anything or not but i was just asking opinions. I have no mods just exhaust but anyways i pulled into my freinds house and checked the engine and everything seemed cool....no milk on the dipstick....oil looked just as normal as ever....anything else to check

yeahhhhhhh

anyone no?

Depends. If you had spark blow out at high rpm, then no. I doubt you're having knock issues...

Before you start it up, pull the plugs and make sure they're okay. W/ forced induction, they should look brownish, not white or black. Pull them and then come back and tell me what you see...

Sounds like your car just went from high octane spark table to low octane spark table. No worries.

Then take it to the dealership. You're under warranty w/ pretty much no mods. They can't give you **** about exhaust for that. The car should be fine. If it were anything serious, there would be obvious symptoms:

More noise than usual, blue or white exhaust fumes, CEL, rough idle, etc etc...

Just freaking drive the car and if it happens again, take it to the dealership and have them fix it.

If you're suffering from spark blowout, gap your plugs .005" tighter than what they are set to now.

knock is not really something you feel or hear.
well.....until its to late anyway heh.

this sounds like a spark blowout/backfire, or a really bad group of misfires.

Checking your plugs and your air filter are good ideas.
also if you have an oiled filter, give your maf sensor a clean.

NP, just enjoy your car and remember to always pay attention to it. Change the oil when you should, check the air filter and plugs at least every other oil change. Don't blast music all the time and listen to how your motor sounds at idle, during normal driving and while laying into it. You'd be surprised at how fast you can catch problems if you take care of your car...

Pfft...one of the first vehicles I ever EFI tuned had no knock sensor. Had to tune spark by ear.

You kids.

P.S. - The MAF cleaning thing is a great idea every other oil change too. That is, if you have an oiled filter...

Was the engine coolant at operating temperature when it happened?

No I meant the one down in your wheel well. W/ the stock filter in there, you should just have the dealership do your oil changes and ask them to check the filter at the appropriate point in reference to the service schedule...

just saying.. what you think a backfire is? its timing related...which in turn leads to detonation (knock).. they go hand in hand...

and side note.. you can feel knock.. closest i can compare it to is like a slipping clutch
