Ported Head

So I'm going to be getting my head ported in a few weeks and was wondering who has already done this, and also what there results were as far as throttle response, iat2s, and overall power

Not on the car yet... bench test show that it's an 11% gain in flow on an average port job and a slight drop in intake temps.
From what I hear, the throttle response improves quite a bit.

The unfortunate thing, is that the head isn't the bottle neck....

Someone needs to find a company that ports out intake manifold and does it well. And that video makes my pants wet.

The intake manifold really can't be ported to much anyway gasket matching it removes little material.

Where you think he got the idea <----me

We ported the head on Gilberts SS, but no real gains to speak of. If you port the supercharger properly it will help more ar atleast the same. You don't even need the head ported unless you plan to run cams anyhow.

So now U guys are saying there wer now real gains? I'd love to see some sheets on the actual flow...

Now I'm kinda on the Fence. $1,900 for this port job could go to buy alot of other things for me.....

$1900?!?!
What, are they gold plating it for you?

Take it to a machine shop... have them mill out the exits a bit.
Then take it home, mark the new inlet size, and go hard with a sanding drum (only take a bit off).
Then take down any major rough edges.

The point of a port job isn't to increase the size of the ports, but rather to minimize restrictions, and keep the port area relatively the same from manifold to chamber.

And don't mirror polish the thing... you want a slightly rough to the touch finish.

Well, I wasn't to in detail about the $1,900... that includes Install on the Valves and Valves springs.

+, all that stuff U just said.... lol I got 0 idea how to do any of that!.

I'm Cole Trickle... "They told me to get in the car and drive, and I can drive! But all that other stuff you just said about, tight here and turn there.... I don't know"

If that price is including valves, and springs... it makes it worth it.
The fact that you can run an aggressive cam and rev higher, will actually provide better gains than the actual port job will.

^100%, the port job will just provide better efficiency and fuel atomization at the higher RPM's...

I wasn't planning on doing anything with cams.... I didn't think there was Much ado about them... i.e from what I head they weren't to great of an investment.

+ what Edubs said, Pulling the Head, + P&P, + Install on the Srping and Valves + install back on the motor.... $1,900 is a good price yes.

But will it be worth it? (I think it should be after the tune and all is said and done but only time will tell i guess)
