Porting your Supercharger

I've been helping my friend do mods to his Lightning and on one of the SVT forums theres a company called STIEGEMEIER. they do porting of superchargers among other things. We sent his blower out to them and had it ported. There results don't lie. The trucked dyno'd 410whp then after the ported blower it put 443whp. I emailed them to see if porting the m62 was an option and they said that "Yes we can port those for $495". So after seeing the improvements on the Lightning I def. think it is on my list of to do. Check them out at

I'm going to say not much considering porting a small blower will just make maybe 10-15whp. Not worth it I don't think.

Sounds like a good mod. Is that the labour cost? If so, it seems like a good deal.

You might as well go althe way and port out your throttle body along with the S/C.

Yeah $495 plus shipping. i would think that you'd see at least 15-20 plus any other mod you can no benefit even more. They do awesome work the Lightning blower looks real good.

If these folks can do the same for our blower, than I'd think 10-20 hp would be substantial.
IA possible 10% gain.

you have to be careful when porting the blower, you can see turbulence in teh blower, like extra air flowing up across the blades and it will throw the car in limp mode, I have seen it happen in person but that company is a respectable company, they do good work i hear. With the blower being ported, your supercharger will also have a distinct tone to it, diff than stock, it sounds sweet

I believe one of the members on the RL boards has already sent them an extra blower he had and they are/were currently blueprinting it (because they had never done the M62 before) and were going to start working on his as soon as they got done with what they need to on the research side of things.

Hmmmm, I called back in the summer time. They already knew they were off the redline/ss, and said he'd do it for $395. Sounded like he already had done them.

I still think they'd do $395, since they charge $495 for the larger blowers.

My plan was to also get the outside polished to a mirror like finish. Grinding off the satin finish and polishing not only looks great, but it allows the heat to disapate much better!

They do great work for us cobra guys. They work best when you are running a pulley, and it creates the extra heat. I would highly recommend this mod. Been thinking about doing it myself.

if it were 3-5 hp for $500 then no way. however, intenses stage 3 kit that adds like 45-50 whp for $508 puts this to shame lol.

i'll take whatever power i can get.

Yeah I emailed Bob awhile back, he has already done numerous RL's, dunno about any SS Cobalts. He never gave me any dyno numbers but he said "They responded as I expected from the porting...good". I would have already sent my blower in, but I don't have another car to drive around for a month or more.

Thats funny I sent my extra sc last week so he could blueprint the porting on it and they said they havent played with them as of yet? He also said it will take up to six weeks to get a true blueprint done then he can turn them around in a few days.

Good, I will contact them monday and get some more info. After thinking about it they did say there was a guy in there area but he couldnt go that long without his car. Thats why it wasnt a big deal to me to send my extra sc since I am doing a perf build on the engine I have and wont be ready for install for awhile. The custom pistons that I have beeing made are taking at least the same time as the sc.
