Possible New Setup

Hey guys, So Im almost ready to take the next step and get a stage kit.

As of now, my car is totally stock other than: zzp 3" intake and zzp stage 3 heat exchanger. I am running stock exhaust also.

This is the setup I was thinking about:

-zzp tune
-oversized tensioner pulley
-gm shorter belt
-60# injectors
-2.9" pulley (possibly 2.8")

Let me know what you guys think, I'm still pretty new to everything so just wanted to make sure I was headed in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for any help/suggestions!

Looks like you're headed in the right direction to me! And guys correct me if I'm wrong but you shouldn't need the tensioner pulley if you get the shorter belt

Opition B reservoir dual by pass endplate and if you go with the oversized tensioner pulley you dont need the shorter belt the stock belt will work

I went to use an oversized tensioner from ZZP when I bolted up my 2.6" pulley and it rubbed on the bottom of the tensioner itself. Apparently it needs modifying to fit. I just tried it without the oversized tensioner and just the GMS2 belt and thankfully no slip so I didn't bother with it

Alright, so either the shorter belt or the oversized tensioner pulley. Has anyone else used the zzp tensioner pulley??

Also do you guys think the dual pass endplate is needed for now? I will probably eventually get one....

I would just spend the extra 80.00 for the dual by pass because your going to need cooling mods for the more boost pressure

So you dont think the s3 heat exchanger is enough? Im running it in parallel with the stock h/e currently....

All a dual pass, and heat exchanger will do is recoupe your IATs faster after a pull. It will not actually lower IATs during a pull. So IMO it is not needed unless you like to do back to back pulls all the time

Youre good with the s3 man, no need for dual pass unless you're gonna run a crazy small pulley

The reason that I said anything to him about a dual bypass end plate is because the way that he's doing stuff to this car he wanted the car to be alot fast and once he gets the extra power he's looking for I can tell he's going to be out running people one right after another

And the IAT's will be lower with the daul bypass end plate and the ZZP S3 H/e and thats what you want...You dont want ur IAT's to high

Alright thanks guys...I probably will end up getting the end plate once I have extra money, just wanted to make sure it wasnt extremely bad to run without it.

Yeah you're good to go, you'll be fine until you save up the extra cash, another wise investment is an interceptor, that way you can monitor your iats

my 2 cents..

s3 HE, Dual Pass, Stg 2 belt, Overszed tensioner

then throw on the 2.6 and watch that boost gauge tach out. thats what I had on my car anyway. I loved it.

honestly 2.9 without exhaust mods, 2.8 with. I have a bad mab header, and zzp 2.5 DP and still see 18 psi at the top of 2nd/3rd gear.

I have the ZZP tune, and depending on which they are sending out now it's not bad at all..... I'm getting great mileage on mine, and awesome power. Mine was a new one Tim had done, built around the Injen CAI, since I had the K&N we used that one and it worked out I was damn near dead on for fuel trims and such.

Holy crap you sure your cat isn't clogged? I'm on a 2.6" pulley and running meth through my blower which bumps up my boost about 2 psi and i'm running 19 psi. spchrgd IMO just go with the 2.8" I ran a 2.8" all summer last year with stock exhaust. 2.9" to 2.8" is not going to make or break you needing exhaust mods at all. And will give you a little more seat of your pants pull.
