Is it possible to run a 2.5 on stock motor?

Hey guys/girls,

I was just curious if it was really all that possible or a good thing to run a 2.5" Pulley on a Tvs with a stock motor, although some mods will be ported head with upgraded valve springs and other supporting mods. What do you guys think, will it hold?

yes it is possible and has been done numerous times. I would include dual pass or single pass, opt b, extra h/e, port supercharger, great tuner, wideband, interceptor

maybe want to throw on 3" intake and ls3 throttle body while your at it.

Not on a TVS blower....

Do NOT port a TVS, it is designed for best performance from HARROP

Cant speak for anything that low but I just fixed mine up with the 75mm pulley and im getting 21.5psi running 23.5 degrees of timing, still fine tuning

93+67%meth/33% water = no knock as long as i keep AFR under 11.8

Thanks for the replies guys, no the car is not on c16 gas, just regular 93... Possibly e85 eventually.

I already have a 3" intake and will be getting an ls4 throttle body eventually as well, will need a new clutch too lol... I also have dual pass endplate, opt b., methanol injection, and zzp s3 heat exchanger... that is about all for cooling mods right now...

2.6 pulley on a tvs with 80# injectors w/E-85 you will be pushing the injectors way over the limit you will run out of fuel before your powerband is peaked.

I am not worried about fuel so much as other precautions I should be taking about blowing the motor, which I am sure won't happen. E85 is not happening during this, not enough sources around me for it.

Pump gas (93) and meth.

That was more a test for ***** and giggles. I ran the pulley for a few months on the stock motor to see how the car would react. Motor held up 3rd gear did not.

OP:

My suggestion do not drop below a 2.7" unless you plan on dropping serious money into the motor. 25psi is a lot for a blower to begin with 28 is just stupid.

I made no more power on meth then i did on the 2.7" with meth. People have picked up power with it and e85 but it was not much 4whp annd the same for tq. Not worth it imo. At that rate your on 80's and a return style or 98's.

Now if you want to tear into the motor and play with displacement its a different story... but more on that later.

after 2.7 you just start stacking air and building heat iirc need more flow

Josh by your post I am assuming this has been done before, the motor held but tranny gave up????

so then i ask this question... what is holding up the power on the car with such a small ring... in my situation heat isnt a problem. and im running at least 25 percent less restriction than everyone else

This is sean

Yeah we ran that on my car when i was testing the blower for harrop back a few years ago.

The trans imo was more related to a poor clutch, driving habits.

I would not say if you slap the ring on your going to break anything, but i also don't recommend it becuase your adding more stress, heat, taking more power to spin the blower, and really not moving that much more air.
