powell motorsport aftercooler
powell motorsport aftercooler
Well I was looking around for aftermaket soultions to an after cooler. So far im leaning towards getting the cobalt addiction kit with the dual pass and extra coolant bottle. But I came across powell motorsports and noticed they have a replacement intercooler thats dual pass. Does anyone on here have experience with this aftercooler? I remember from the TV show on speed channel they did the cobalt build up and took out the stock one and replace it with I believe this one and mounted it up front..... anyways any info would be appreciated as I havent found anything on this for a search

what would make u say that I wouldnt get it? I havent seen any complaints about them yet.
actually, they replace the stock HE with a much better one, use the dual pass endplate and elect to use the extra coolant bottle for the option B. Add the parts up and its a little steep, but well worth the money. Try buying a Ron Davis heat exchanger, they run $450+. The dual pass endplate goes from $150-225, you can make your own for cheaper though. The bottle, cap and tubing runs $50. You can make the kit yourself or buy it from powell. I'd suggest putting your own together, then you can also add another HE and still be under $1000.
seriously, and i will probaly get in trouble for saying this, but dont deal with them, it is not worth the headache. everything you try to do with them turns into a big problem unless you can drive to their place. in my opinon, CA gets a big thumbs down.

Those are used in Phase 5 cobalts for Grand Am cup cars. You don't really need it since I assume you don't track race.

This is probably the best HE available for the LSJ. Lots of air surface area and mounted in a good location. The side benefit is that you just have one heat exchanger in the circuit, instead of 2 in series on the cobra add on, which should lower the restriction the intercooler pump sees. This pump is very sensitive to backpressure as relates to it's coolant flow.
Down side....Will the AC condenser have to be removed?
I have to agree it is pricey.
